'Ok you go right/left.' We say at the same time.
'Guess we're thinking the same thing.' Spiderman smiles. 'So here's the plan-'
'Hang on, why should I listen to you?'
Spiderman states at me blankly.
'I'm kidding.' I smirk. 'Go ahead.'
'Ok. We'll corner them inside, save the hostages and tie up the bad guys.'
'Good plan. I'll see you in there.' I nod.
Spiderman smiles then swings off, an air of confidence surrounding him. I smirk to myself. Looks like my SHIELD training has proved useful once more.
I fly in from the right, hidden by the the night air. I enter through a broken window, carefully sliding out my staff as I creep down the hallway. The police have collected outside, wary of gunshots from inside the bank. I tell myself that bullets don't bother me. I've been shot before. There are worst things than being shot by a gun. I have to remind myself to breathe. It'll be fine. I've fought worse. And lost.
I leave the blue light from outside behind for flashes of darkness and an air that's thick with smoke. A fire has been set somewhere but the alarms aren't working. My visor protects me from most of it but as I creep along the corridor, I have to stifle a few coughs. Flames begin to tickle the walls. This operation is becoming more and more complicated. My hand grips the carbon staff, finding comfort in the familiar weapon that dad and I made. Just breathe. My footsteps echo in the darkened hall. I hear nothing; I don't see Spiderman; I only feel darkness. Suddenly a man jumps out at me. I swing my baton at his side, knocking the wind from his lungs. He jumps back and growls. Before he can move, I hit him again. His body lies cold on the floor. I bring my baton to ready position once more and continue down the corridor.
A gun goes off.
'SUNDAY, report.'
'Eight hostages and four robbers.' She scans. I can see the heat signatures appearing on the screen in front. 'Spiderman has webbed up the other two down the hall. Firefighters are on standby.'
'Ok.' My heart beats quicker as I race down the hall and storm into the room. Dad would not like this.
'Freeze.' One of the enemy shouts. Four guns point in my direction. I quickly scan the room. Eight hostages kneeling on the floor, hands on head. Fingers moving, ready to fire. My eyes dart to the left, my hands grab two daggers. They stab two hearts with one quick throw. I drop to the ground to avoid the bullets, pinging back up again with my staff.
'Run.' I shout to the hostages. 'Spiderman will help you!' They scramble to their feet and spring out of the door. 'Watch out for the fire!' I yell as they go. Before the two robbers can shoot, I stand in front on the exit with my staff poised. Their glares turn to me and my daggers. I still have Loki's left. And they're sharper than Nat's. Before they can move, one slices its way through a thigh. He screams loudly, falling to the floor and clasping the bloodied wound. He murmurs multiple profanities at the other robber. Both of them pick up their guns. I find myself in the middle of their aim. I exhale softly, my eyes clicking between the two. In a flash my staff is on the ground. A bullet whirls where my head just was. My fist connects with the shooter's face. He groans angrily and tries to hit me back. He's bigger than me but slower. I've always used my petite height to my advantage. I throw in a good few punches but they don't do much to make this colossal asshole move. I take out my knife and begin slashing around. I cut his side and scratch his cheek. He shouts something at his friend as I slash again. My teeth are gritted in concentration, my eyes narrowed until a gun fires past my wrist, catching me off guard. My breathing quickens. I'm taken back to Sokovia. In my moment of weakness, he has his arms around my neck. The robber's laugh turns metallic. One holds me in place as the other raises the gun to my head.
