Chapter 6.1: Sunset on a Roof

'Hey Happy!' I beam, jumping into the car.

Happy's eyes stare at me through the rear-view mirror. 'Ready for the algebra test?'

'It's just a practice one but yes.'

'Homework done?'

'Yep.'

'And you're staying late tonight to find Spiderman?'

I roll my eyes. 'I can't believe dad told you about that. No... wait, I can. Dad tells you everything.' I shake my head. 

'And did you remember everything because I'm not going back again like yesterday. That was unnecessarily stressful.'

'Yes.' I snicker. It was amusing watching Happy shout at everyone as he tried to turn the car around in heavy traffic. 'Can we go now?' 

'One more thing.'

I groan. 'Come on Happy, I don't want to be late.'

He throws a banana at me. 'You forgot to eat breakfast.' 

I swear I see a small smile tug at the corner of his lips.

'Katy, I was wondering...' Ned says between mouthfuls of food, 'you know how you're from LA...'

'Yeah...' Where's this going?

'Were you there when Stark's mansion was blown up? Like did you see it happening?'

I nearly choke. That is not a pleasant memory. 

'Dude? What kind of question is that?' Peter hits Ned. 

'Come on Peter, you wanted to ask Katy when we first found out where she was from.' Ned says. Peter goes bright red. 

I stare at the two boys in front of me and recompose myself. 'I lived in LA not Malibu. I remember it happening though.' Literally. Nearly died. As usual. 

'You see, Peter is a huge fan of Tony Stark. Me, I'm more of a Captain America fan-'

'Dude. Shut up.' Peter mumbles. 

'Come on, she already knows we're nerds.' Ned raises his hands. 

'Yeah, but...'

Ned turns to me. 'Peter met him once, at the Stark Expo.'

My eyes widen. 'Wow...'  I try not to snicker. Oh my God, that kid dad went on about was him?!

Peter groans. 'Ned...'

They both start silently arguing with their eyes. 

I shake my head. 'Ned, I already know that Peter's favourite Avenger is Stark. He told me.'

Peter goes bright red. 'Did I say that?'

'Yeah, you did, at the coffee shop? Remember?' I grin. If he's embarrassed now, what will he be like when he finds out I'm a Stark? I laugh at the thought. 

'Yeah... and you said you liked Thor.' 

It's my turn to go red. 

'You said what?' Loki hisses. 

'Only to piss you off. Now go bug someone else.'

'We think Ion Girl's pretty cool.' Ned says. 

Peter's eyes widen. 'No, we don't...'

'Peter, quit being a moron.' Ned mumbles to his friend. I raise my eyebrows. 'We think that she's like Yoda or Emperor Palpatine with the lightning from her hands.' Ned begins to mime shooting lightning from his fingers.
