"KANG jieun don't be stupid, you're going to have to get the surgery. it's better to do it now than later."

pinching the bridge of her nose, jieun screws her eyes shut. taehyun's words echo in her mind over and over again like a broken record, leaving a feeling of helplessness swimming around in her brain for hours.

"jieun—"

"—are you okay?"

jieun blinks and flinches, taking a few steps backwards upon noticing that yeonjun's face was really close to hers. the tip of her ears feel hot, and jieun adverts her gaze.

"yes?" she mumbles, her voice coming out a little high-pitched.

yeonjun raises an eyebrow and flicks her forehead. "are you sure you're okay?"

"yes!" jieun stares at the ground, walking away from yeonjun quickly. "i am perfectly—"

"miss jieun!"

jieun lets out a breath of relief she hadn't realized she was holding in. beomgyu stands in front of her, beaming at her.

"oh, hi jieun!"

jieun kept her gaze on beomgyu, refusing to look at haein. she laughs lightly, greeting the younger girl.

she gasps, grabbing beomgyu's arm and tugging him down lightly. beomgyu remains silent as jieun whispers into his ear. "help me out here, will you?" she asks, looking at him with pleading eyes.

beomgyu nods.

"oh mr beomgyu!" says jieun, "i forgot that we're supposed to walk to our class together today! lets go!"

jieun breaks out into a run, dragging beomgyu behind her. they're both gasping for air after running and hiding behind a random building near the humanities department. with his hands resting on his knees, beomgyu looks at jieun who's doing the same.

"you're welcome?" he wheezes out.

jieun chuckles softly. "thank you beom—"

"ji!"

jieun stands up, ready to sprint to her class only to get tugged backwards. yeonjun turns her around. he's frowning, making jieun feel bad for running away from him and haein. but... she really can't let herself cough up tulip petals in front of him.

"you," says yeonjun, breathing heavily. "have been acting really weird lately. what are you hiding from me?"
