hello, this is YESUNPHILIA aka kusosmy :)

i am finally writing this note as i have come to terms with finally saying bye bye to UNFORTUNATELY, I LOVE YOU.

this book has such a special place in my heart. i think this book will always be the best that i've ever written and will ever write. it's definitely a book i experimented on in terms of how to write imagery and in present tense. how i chose to portray jieun and the boys, although they could've been written better, were still written in the way i envisioned them to be, and i think that's why writing for this book came to me so easily. it also really helped with how i planned the book.

anyways, um... this is literally just me talking about what my thoughts are on this work of mine and some things i should clarify about this book.

so, how did i get this idea?

to be honest, i think i got the idea by watching a drama, unrequited love, and the motivation from my lovely, bestest friend, -joonbug  ! although the leads did get their happy ending together in the drama... for UILY, i really wanted a tragic ending for both jieun and yeonjun. thus... why they passed away. i really wanted to write something i usually don't write, which was a sad ending wherein both leads don't get a happy ending. that aspect of writing for UILY always made me excited and always pushed me to write for this book. motivation wise, sun e always really helped me out. she always reassured me with my ideas and she was definitely the biggest factor, in addition to my own excitement, as to why i kept writing for UILY. everyone say: thank you sunny :)

at first, i was only going to have jieun pass away and have yeonjun live in regret and have taehyun and beomgyu despise him forever... but i honestly wanted to have yeonjun and jieun meet again in the afterlife and be the best friends they were always meant to be.

now, here's some clarity on a few things.

at first, beomgyu was supposed to like haein, which would have been the trigger for hanahaki in yeonjun. however ! sun e convinced me that it was better for jieun to have a li, and she was right because i realized that her story was more sad. that's probably why some think/thought that beomgyu likes haein !

yoon haein is a completely different person ! she is not baek haein ! i made yoon haein have the name, well, haein, as to make the plot interesting for the sequel/spin-off !

yeonjun was, in fact, very jealous of beomgyu. i'll go into detail later about this ;)

if there is anything else to be cleared up, let me know!

i would love to talk about the characters, but i would end up crying and i would much rather go much more in depth about them in bonus chapters !

thank you all for having read UNFORTUNATELY, I LOVE YOU and i hope to see you all again in the sequel :)

much love,
dea (YESUNPHILIA)
