THE STORY OF HOW CHOI
YEONJUN HAD AN ICKY
FEELING WHEN KANG
JIEUN WAS WITH
CHOI BEOMGYU.

✦┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈┈✧

YEONJUN glances once in a while between haein and beomgyu.

if he remembers correctly, he saw jieun and the boy in front of him the other day when he and jieun bumped into haein on their way to class... they seem like good friends.

haein seems to be talking about something, though yeonjun doesn't pay attention to her. he should, he knows that, but it's hard to do so when jieun laughs and smiles brightly at the boy...

choi beomgyu, was it?

"who is taehyun?"

at this, yeonjun perks up, looking at how jieun brightens up at the mention of her brother. he smiles, chuckling as jieun answers.

"my little brother!"

yeonjun laughs. "as you can see," he says, "ji really loves taehyun."

haein tilts her head. "oh, you know taehyun too?"

the male beams at her, his chest puffing out slightly. "of course i do!" he says. "it's impossible for me to not know him. after all, i am jieun's best friend~"

best friend.

it always leaves a bitter taste in yeonjun's mouth when he says those two words. he knows it shouldn't, but it does. he doesn't know why, and he doesn't like thinking about things he can't solve nor understand, so pushes those feelings down and down into the depths of his heart and mind, putting them in a box and hiding it in a corner where he can never see it. why should jieun being his best friend leave a bitter taste in his mouth?

it shouldn't.

yeonjun glances at beomgyu, smiling smugly at him. he's jieun's best friend, not him.

but his short-lived victory is disturbed when he sees from the corner of his eye jieun hold a hand up to her mouth, clearing her throat quietly. she looks troubled with the way her eyebrows are furrowed in worry. whatever it is that's troubling her, jieun doesn't seem to notice yeonjun's worried stare.

"what does everyone major in?"

yeonjun grins. "ji majors in law! she's really smart, you see. she's gonna be a real hotshot when we graduate."

the younger male nods. "yeah! miss jieun is going to make it big as a lawyer."

frowning, yeonjun's gaze flickers to jieun who is now paying attention to the conversation. she turns to look at him, and he quickly turns his attention to haein, smiling and nodding nervously.

did she see?

"what do you major in, yeonjun?"

taken aback, yeonjun laughs nervously, hoping it wasn't obvious that he was thinking in other things. he looks at jieun, who utters his name as she looks at the table.

"mr beomgyu, what do you major in?"

yeonjun frowns a little at haein interrupting jieun.

beomgyu, the boy who gets increasingly more annoying with every passing second, smiles apologetically at haein. "oh, um, i'm sorry haein, but the miss and mr thing is a joke between jieun and i..."

jieun begins to cough, almost as if she was holding something back. yeonjun stares at her, worried, as she jumps up and tries to leave. of course, yeonjun follows after and stares in shock when she falls over and starts to cough even more violently. he feels as if his heart is ripping apart at the pained sounds coming from jieun, and he's about to go to her when he sees beomgyu already there. he furrows his eyebrows and blinks when haein squeals.

he forgot all about haein being there.

turning around, yeonjun looks at haein.

"i got coffee all on me from the commotion," she mutters.

he really doesn't pay attention to her. all he can focus on is beomgyu helping jieun, taking her away as the bell chimes, signaling their departure.

his heart sinks further into his stomach.
