Something New

Chapter 14

Finally, Beam was able to find a day that worked for all his friends, to have the house-warming party. All of his free time, leading up to the party, which he didn't have much of, was spent planning and getting all the supplies he would need. He wanted everything to be perfect because it was going to be his first time hosting a party in a place that's his own. Forth helped a lot and Beam knew that he couldn't have done it without him.

On the day of the party, Beam wore a light sweater in peach with some jeans that fit a little snug on his rear end and Forth let out a wolf whistle when he first saw him. He came over and pulled him in for a kiss and growled, "Babe, are you trying to give me a heart attack? You look so fucking sexy in those jeans. How am I supposed to behave?" he asked as he slid his hands down to Beam's butt to give it a playful squeeze.

Beam blushed but put his arms around Forth's neck and said, "Well you don't look too bad yourself!" to Forth who had on a blue striped button up that hugged his chest and arms in all the right placed. Forth picked Beam up and said, "Alright, party's cancelled. Let's just go to bed." Beam giggled and playfully slapped Forth's chest and said, "Let me down, Forth." Forth just shook his head and said "No way! Just know that this is your fault." Beam then leaned up to whisper in his ear, "If you let me go now, I'll make it up to you."

Forth looked down at him and put him down but didn't let him go before giving him a deep and dirty kiss that left Beam gasping for breath and said, "And don't you forget it." With a smolder in his eyes. Beam cleared his throat and moved away from Forth who was looking at him like a predator looking at its prey. Beam, to diffuse the tension asked, "Where's Racey?" Forth looked pleased that Beam asked about him, he said, "I left him with Laem because there were going to be a lot of people and I didn't know if you would be okay with him being here." Beam looked disappointed, but he said, "Thanks for considering my feelings, but, just so you know, I wouldn't have minded." And turned away, so he missed the look of utter adoration that was plastered on Forth's face.

Forth had already set up a music station with some speakers that he brought over from his place and Beam set up the Barbeque grill and had prepared all the marinated meat and veggies, ready to be grilled. Kit and Ming were the first ones to arrive and both of them were overjoyed to see Forth there. Beam was secretly glad that they were here early, because they were friends with Forth and knew that he would definitely have some company.

They all greeted each other, and Ming went to help Forth fire up the grill while Kit helped Beam put up the finishing touches. Soon, Pha arrived with Wayo. Beam completely ignored Pha and went straight to Wayo and said, "N'Wayo, thanks for coming, how are you?" Wayo grinned and said, "I'm doing good P, the place looks beautiful. I cannot believe that jungle of a backyard is not this magical." Beam laughed at his enthusiasm and said, "Thanks so much Yo! You're adorable as ever. I'll never understand how you fell for our idiot friend." Kit chimed in and said "Neither can I."

Pha smacked Beam upside the head and said, "Hey asshole, you didn't even greet me and the first time you acknowledge my presence is to insult me?" Beam just shrugged and said, "Whatever, do you need an invitation? And I see you almost every day. Pha shook his head and complained, "My best friends are the absolute worst." At that, almost like they practiced it, Beam and Kit said in unison, "Aww, come here you big baby." And hugged him from both sides and laughed.

Ming and Forth had walked up to the commotion and Beam introduced Forth to the new arrivals. Yo greeted him with a nice and polite smile and a handshake but Pha gave him a once over and just said hi, with a suspicious look on his face. When Forth extended his hand, Pha didn't shake his hand immediately and Beam kicked his shin. Pha then winced slightly and then shook his hand a little to tight for comfort. Beam just shook his head at his friend's behavior.

With his best friends there, Beam felt a little less anxious. Kit then dragged Beam and Pha into the house when Ming, Yo and Forth were at the grill talking to each other. Kit excitedly asked, "So, spill it. How's it going with Forth?" Beam nonchalantly said, "Good." Kit gave him an incredulous look and said, "Good? That's all you're going to say? Are you kidding me?" Beam firmly said, "Kit please, not now. I promise we will have a sit-down conversation soon and I'll give you all the details then." He then turned to Pha and said, "And you, what the fuck is wrong with you? Why were you so rude to him just now?" he asked in an irritated tone. Pha started, "Well, he..." Beam cut him off and said, "Well nothing. You will be nice to him or else..." he finished, threateningly.

Pha knew when to yield and so he just grabbed the angry Kitty and got out to the rest of them. He saw that Forth was alone, at the grill and decided to go talk to him. He walked up to him and said, "So, you like my friend huh?" Forth was startled, but he recovered quickly and said, "Yes. Yes, I do." Pha gave him an intense stare and said, "Beam may seem like a tough guy on the outside, but he's really fragile and has been hurt before, so, if you do anything to hurt him, I'll kill you and make sure it hurts." Forth smiled at him and said, "I'd be disappointed if you didn't." Pha seemed satisfied with that so he gave him a nod and stepped away.

Other guests started trickling in and Beam greeted everyone and received so many compliments about the place. June came with Pete and Kao and instantly the noise level increased because of the loud June. Beam laughed at his funny antics and welcomed them. He instantly commandeered the music station and declared himself the DJ for the party. Beam just accepted it because he knew that disagreeing would be futile.

Kongpob and Arthit came next and Beam hugged them both and excitedly told them, "P's I'm so excited! Congrats on finalizing the adoption." They both chuckled at him and Arthit said, "Thank you N'Beam! You're going to be an uncle soon so get ready to do some babysitting." Beam laughed and said, "I can't wait to meet the baby." He scratched his head and said, I don't know about the baby sitting though." They all laughed at that and went in to join the others.

A little while later, Type walked in with some gift bags followed by Tharn who also had some bags. Beam waved at them and said "Welcome P'Type, P'Tharn, what do you think?" he asked, while gesturing to the place behind him. "It's gorgeous Beam, I knew Forth would come through for you. Aren't you glad I introduced him to you?" Type asked and Beam blushed a little at that and said, "You were right P, Thank you!" Type laughed and handed Beam the gifts.

That's when he noticed the bags and he exclaimed, "Wow, you guys needn't have brought anything." Both of them just shushed him and shoved all the bags into his hands. Tharn then gave Beam a flirty smile and said, "The place looks good, but not as good as you." Beam just shook his head and laughed while Type glared at his husband. Tharn instantly turned to him and said, "Sweetheart, I was just playing, you know you're the only one for me." Just as he finished, Forth came up and said, "Hello P'Type, P'Tharn!" Type turned and grabbed Forth's arm and said, "Oh Forth, it's so nice to see you. Come on, give me a tour now." And walked away. Tharn just shook his head and told Beam, "He sure is special." But hurriedly followed them in.

All the neighbors that Beam had invited, showed up and they all were wowed by the backyard, rightfully so and wanted to meet the person responsible. He introduced them to Forth and soon they were all charmed by him and he saw quite a few business cards being handed out. Beam guessed that he would have quite a few projects lined up on the neighborhood soon and he felt happy for him.

Beam was constantly engaging with his guests, making sure that they were all comfortable and that they all had whatever they needed. He finally moved to a spot next to the back door and took a moment to catch a breath. Forth was just coming out of the house and found him standing there. So, he hugged him from the back and planted a little kiss on his neck. Beam let out a sigh and leaned on the broad chest, just enjoying the moment, being surrounded by friends having fun.

Just then, June played a slow song and all the couples started swaying together. Forth and Beam also did the same in just the position that they were in. Beam slowly open his eyes at the exact moment when his parents walked in. Beam got out of Forth's hands and rushed to greet them. Forth was startled but he followed when he saw that Beam's parents had arrived.
