Beam was not in a good mood, not at all. Kit, the little gremlin that he was had nagged him constantly and wore him down into agreeing to the blind date. So here he was, on his way to the café to meet Forth. He couldn't find parking outside the café, so he ended up having to park his car a little farther than he liked and walk up to it. As he was walking, he ran into Tharn, his senior Type's boyfriend, who was also his senior in college. He was sitting at an outdoor table at a restaurant down the street from his destination with four of his friends.

As soon as Tharn saw him, he excitedly waved him over, "Hey Beam! Oh my God! What a pleasant surprise. How have you been?" Beam had been hoping to not run into anyone he knew because he did not want anyone to know that he was on a blind date. He cursed his luck but quickly schooled his features into a smile and replied, "P'Tharn, I'm doing good. How are you? How's P'Type?" Tharn nodded and smiled at the mention of his husband and said "good, good we're doing well. Well come, join us he said gesturing to his table." Beam then glanced at the table only to see four eager faces looking him up and down appreciatively and it made him extremely uncomfortable, so he apologized to Tharn saying, "Oh no P, I'm just here to grab a coffee to go, we will definitely catch up soon" and walked away briskly. Leaving behind four disappointed men drooling at Beam's retreating form.

Beam entered the café, and to his chagrin, it was packed full of people. He walked up to the counter and got himself a latte for some much-needed caffeine. He was scanning the crowd to figure out who among all these people was Forth when a handsome, tall, well-built guy in a muscle tee and ripped jeans walked up to him and Beam moved aside thinking he wanted to pass through. But he just stared at Beam and asked, "Hi, you wouldn't be looking for a guy named Forth by any chance."

Beam was taken aback by the mere fact that this guy was actually talking to him. So, he asked "why?" in a suspicious tone. The guy chuckled and said, "Well, I'm him. Are you Beam?" Beam was dumbfounded because he did not picture him like this at all, the guy had a visible neck tattoo and wore an earring and had on a muscle tank and ripped jeans." Beam was dazed and confused, and his eyes were wide when he asked, "You are Forth Jamornhum? The architect? Ming's friend?" Forth smiled and nodded saying, "Yup, the one and only."

Beam then laughed uncomfortably and looked anywhere but at Forth. That's when Forth said, "I'm sorry!" When Beam looked up at him questioningly, he explained, "Looks like you were not expecting someone like me." Beam shook his head vigorously and said, "No, no, Kit described you perfectly." While thinking to himself that he was going to kill Kit the next day. Forth, not privy to his murderous thoughts smiled and said, "Well, Ming had nothing but good things to say about you." while thinking to himself that he did not do him justice in the looks department because Beam was gorgeous.

Forth asked, "Should we find a table?" which prompted them to look around and to Beam's joy there were no empty ones. Beam turned to Forth and started to say, "Ah, all the tables seem to be taken..." when Forth interrupted him to say, "Ooh that one just cleared up, let's go sit there." while pointing to a table that just became available. Beam cursed his luck again and followed him.

After several moments of uncomfortable silence, Forth asked, "Are you uncomfortable with me?" Beam looked up at him and replied, "No, why do you ask?" Forth seemed amused and said, "Well, you haven't met my eyes since we sat down, and you've just been staring intently at your coffee." Beam then looked guilty and took a sip of his drink to compose himself and looked at Forth. Forth smiled at him and asked, "Is this your first blind date? Beam thought to himself that it was painfully obvious and said "Yes." "Why did you decide to do it now? He asked genuinely interested. "I don't know, I just wanted to give it a shot." He shrugged, "Mainly to get my friends off my back." He stated as a matter of fact. Forth raised his eyebrows and said "So, you're just doing this to appease your friends!" Beam noticed that he phrased it as a statement and not a question and that rubbed him the wrong way and riled him up. "You know what, it was great meeting you, but I have to get going. I have a bunch of surgeries lined up all week." He started getting up from the table with his coffee "it really was nice meeting you though." Forth was surprised at the abrupt end to their conversation but just said, "it was nice meeting you too." Both of them nodded awkwardly and Beam walked swiftly out of there without turning around. Forth was just left shaking his head and laughing and thinking that the gorgeous doctor sure was a strange man.
