To be quite frank, I don't really remember much from that night. We ate dinner together, chatting over spaghetti which I managed to drop onto my new shirt...twice. I sat next to Ava and Cloe, who I found to be the two most welcoming members of the group. After a while Tristian wandered in and everybody seemed elated to see him, Cloe informed me that he mostly kept to himself but when he did hang out with them he was a really great guy. When we had finished dinner we pushed around tables to form a big empty spot in the middle of the carpet. Will had whipped together a play list of perfect songs. He later justified his on point music taste by saying 'he got it from his dad' meaning Apollo, who also happens to be the god of music.

I've never been a great dancer, I have no rhythm nor do I have any knowledge of dance moves so I mostly jump shift my weight at the same time as other people do. Luckily I had my stamina going for me or else I would've been wiped out after a few minutes.

If we were to have made dancing a competition that night Sara would've won. She was flying and spinning around the room the entire night, her dress turning into a blur of pink and green. It was fantastic to see someone move with such grace and energy. She would jump over chairs and get up on the tables. She didn't fear looking like an idiot, and sometimes she did, but what I really saw when I looked at her was freedom. She didn't care what other people thought and that liberated her.

Near the end of the night, the elevator dinged and someone unfamiliar stepped into the room. I instantly knew who he was: Ava's brother. They had the same dark skin tone, brown eyes and sharp features. He was shortly built like Ava, but was lean and lanky despite the taught muscles on his arms. Also different from Ava his hair was more saturated and browner than Ava's reddish tone, and was held into loose curls. He was cute, not exactly my type, but when he grinned I could feel something inside of me illuminate. As if someone had lit a sparkler and then stabbed me in the chest with it. When he walked in everybody immediately stopped dancing and rushed forward to greet him. There was the excited chatter of old friends as they hugged him. I waited for them to finish, resting in one of the spare chairs on the outskirts of the circle.

Slowly people began to mingle back to the dance floor and I watched as they resumed the fun. It took a while for Louis to notice me but when he did he froze in place, looking stupefied. Then he walked up to me.

"Hey," I said, offering a handshake, "I'm Lea, the new girl."

He chuckled, shaking my hand, "Okay good, I wasn't just imagining we had a new hot chick."

I laughed nervously, "Nope, I'm not a figment of you imagination. At least I think so..."

He grinned, and was about to speak again when the song changed. A slow song, something I recognized to be Christina Perri or someone similar began to blare from the speaker. It seemed as if everyone had their set partners, Cloe with West of course, Deedee grabbed Tristian, Sara jumped on Louis' back and Bash bowed for Ava.

I felt a little excluded, but it wasn't the sharp pain of jealousy it was the dull ache of not being one of them. Not yet. I watched them content with being an outsider for now and daydreamed of the time where I would have someone to dance with. But as I began to daydream about the perfect dance partner the set up changed. Ava ditched Bash for Cloe, and West offered Deedee a polite hand, Tristian grabbed Sara around the middle and twirled her around. I almost started crying with joy as I watched them; they were so comfortable with each other. They didn't feel the need to make anything overly romantic. Sara and Tristian danced around like siblings, Cloe and Ava grabbed hands and spun around, portraying just how close of best friends they were and West and Deedee danced cordially, like gentleman and fair maiden.

It took me a few seconds to realize that Louis and Bash were left to have each other as partners but instead of joining each other they both turned to me simultaneously. Louis was closer so when he walked up to me Bash recognized that he wouldn't be getting this dance.
