Chapter 6 - Part Two

Recap:

“INFERNO!” I screamed again.

“EMBER!” I heard faintly. Lava swarmed under me like the sea. I remembered my wind. I concentrated hard on the wind. How it felt like. Nothing.

This was my fate. As I neared the lava, I accepted my death. I accepted it. The idea of dying no longer scared me. It was okay to die in a pit of lava.

Falling.

I touched the lava, a burning sensation exploding in my body. This is how I die.

Darkness enveloped me. Pain.

A hot, burning sensation washed over me as I floated on clouds. Mmm... puffy, white, cotton candy-like, misty clouds; such a great feeling. I wanted to doze off in the clouds, but I couldn’t fall asleep. I wonder how Taylor is- oh shitty crap!

I snapped my eyes wide open, the dream disappearing. Orange with some red around me as I floated in the water-like substance. My stomach did triple flips like a gymnastic pro. I recalled the events of what previously happened. I was in lava.

Then why was I still alive? Unless...

I had the sinking feeling like when your on a roller coaster going up a huge hill and spiraling downwards really fast. Yeah, the sinking ‘my-stomach-feels-weird-my-mind-is-saying-why-am-I-here-in-the-first-place’ feeling.

I had the element fire. So maybe I was working on the wrong end when I tried it back on the creek.

~ Flashback ~

I put my hands up. Nothing. The creek just went on. I threw my hands up. Nothing. I did it again. Nothing.

I got more and more frustrated.

“WHY ISN’T THIS WORKING!” I bellowed, my voice loud as thunder.

~ End of Flashback ~

Yeah... I probably looked like a mad woman. I brought my hand up to my face to see it. It was perfectly fine! Now, I needed to concentrate on getting back up. What should I do? A beacon immediately shined in my mind.

I had no idea what I was doing, but I summoned all my energy to my hands. Once I thought I had enough powers, I looked up. Yes, I could see in lava. It was like water, but just hot and orange. I saw the opening of the way I had dropped down from and released the power from my hands.

I blasted up from the lava like a rocket and flew up the way I had came down. I hit the top of a rock, signaling that was the end. I felt a pair of hands grasp me and pull me into where they originated.

I crashed into Taylor, and extinguished my power.

“Ember, are you okay?!” Inferno asked worriedly. I stood up and dusted myself.

“Oh, yeah, I’m perfectly fine. It’s just that I fell into a pit of lava and somehow realized I had the element fire. I’m fine, though. Thanks for your concern.” I replied without a hint of sarcasm in my voice. Inferno stared at me, and his right eye twitched.

“Was that sarcasm?” Inferno questioned, uncertain.

“No, of course not.” I answered, with no sarcasm in my voice. Inferno stared at me some more.

“Was that sarcastic?” Inferno repeated. I narrowed my eyes into slits.

“No, you doucheball. I said it wasn’t. I fell into a pit of lava and I survived. Do you not comprehend me?” I responded dangerously, my eyes still narrowed.
