I was awakened by the sound of a familiar voice. I wasn’t awake, but I was aware of my surroundings. I could hear and smell, but I could not see or feel. It was like I was in some trance.

“.... my mate died, but I have feelings for her. How come?” I heard a familiar voice. A gruff, deep, full-of-wisdom voice spoke to reply.

“She is a Wolf-Bender. You are a Wolf-Bender. You see, werewolves and wolf-benders are different races. If the first mate rejects a Wolf-Bender, then there is a chance that there is a second one.”

Ok, the familiar voice sounded like Taylor, wait, WHAT? THE. FREAK. Second mates? What the hell? Taylor’s a Wolf-Bender? Who was the other person?

I was then pulled out of my trance-like state, and was now fully awake. I’m pretty sure they could hear my heartbeat accelerate since I was awake.

“She’s awake.” Taylor whispered. Oh, really? I opened my eyes and saw Taylor sitting outside my little ‘house’ looking normal. But I knew nothing was normal. I decided to not say anything about my ‘trance’ or what I heard. I pretended nothing happened. Most certainly something did.

I narrowed my sleepy-to-awake eyes at Taylor playfully.

“How come you didn’t wake me up before?” I asked, whining.

“Since you’re awake, let’s go back to the pack.” Taylor stated, totally ignoring my question. I’m so going get back at you, Taylor, for ignoring my question. But deep down, I knew the answer. I nodded, a bit flustered. Is he deaf or something? Hearing aid problems?

I stood up, my head inches away from the ceiling. Or should I say sticks. I walked out of my ‘house’ and marched towards the direction of the pack. Literally.

I heard Taylor chuckling. I’ve always been the one to make Taylor chuckle or laugh, and I loved the way it sounded. WAIT, WHAT? I ‘LOVE’ THE SOUND? Since when have I so called, ‘loved’ it? What is wrong with me? Ember (mental slap) does (mental slap) not (mental slap) like (mental slap) Taylor (mental slap)!

I glanced back at Taylor who was staring at me. He quickly averted his gaze to the ground. I saw a pink tint to his face. What? Was Taylor...... blushing? I giggled softly at the thought. No one has ever seen Taylor blush before.

Taylor lifted his gae up and looked at me questioningly. I immediately put on my pokerface, but I was laughing in the inside.

“Did you just giggle?” Taylor questioned, narrowing his eyes. I hate you Taylor. Now I have to put on my poker-voice.

“No, you must have some hearing issues.” I replied my voice unreadable as my face. Haha, that’s for not answering my question before, Taylor. Taylor took a step forward, a threatening look on his face. I squealed and took off, leaving Taylor behind.

I heard running footsteps behind me. I ran faster, enjoying the wind against my skin. I dodged trees, laughing to myself. The wind felt like it was kissing my skin, welcoming me in to something. I let it come. The wind embraced me, and I closed my eyes. I felt myself accelerate, the wind was now blowing with me, following me.

I opened my eyes to see Taylor in front of me. Time decided to slow down. His smirk was descending. I couldn’t stop. Where are the brakes to this when you need it? I was in full fledge panic, and before my face could match it, I crashed into Taylor.

Time went to its normal pace. WHAM! I saw Taylor crash into a nearby tree sideways with his legs hitting it. He fell to the ground, groaning. He would heal fast, so I smirked at him. My wolf paced around inside me, worry seeping out of her.
