When Titi recovered fully, her dad insisted that Titi go live with his twin sister, Kehinde, who lived in the city. She was a widow, with four children and a teacher in a secondary school. Her first daughter was already in a higher institution; the second daughter was in form four of the secondary school, the third was in form one and the fourth child was in primary six. Titi would start from primary two. His wife did not approve of his decision, arguing that Titi was too young to leave home and he can send Tolu there. Daddy Tolu put his foot on the ground, insisting on his decision. It would help the family if one of their children got a better education in the city than what is present in the village. His wife and his twin sister never saw eye to eye, so he wasn't surprised at her refusal. Daddy Tolu did not care what his wife thought; he took Titi to his sister's.
He had told his sister everything the strange lady he met on one of his trips told her and begged her to please raise her daughter well. A month after leaving Titi with his sister, Daddy Tolu fell seriously ill, which he never recovered from and died a year later. After his burial, Mummy Tolu wanted to take Titi back, but the entire family of her husband refused. They were all aware that his dying wish was for Titi to remain in his sister's home until his daughter got married. Her Aunt raised Titi.
Although Titi was now living with her aunt Kay(as she fondly calls her) she was still beckoned to meetings where her mother and sister maltreated her. They would get others to torment and torture her at the meeting. All of this was to terrorize Titi into calling forth her aunt Kay. Titi's mother craved to punish her sister-in-law for taking her daughter away. She also threatened Titi with slavery throughout her life if she fails to comply. Titi had seen how slaves in the group suffer. In the naked eyes, they seem okay. But for those who could see in the other realm, they would see a leash around their necks. Masters use this leash to control the slaves no matter how far apart they were. Slaves do not come for meetings except on invitation by their masters. The slaves are deprived of flesh to keep them too weak to resist. There are no kind masters. Titi knowing this was scared, but she could not imagine hurting her aunt or any member of her family. They have been good to her. She would rather suffer than let anything happen to them. The torments lasted for three years. A lot of those times she was depressed or so sick , she would be hospitalized. She had no friends in schools, the children's group in her school took care of that.
Her mother had often publicly accused Aunty Kehinde of being a witch and using her daughter's life for money. This affected the entire family. Sometimes Titi would hear the children begging their mother to send her back home, but Aunty Kehinde refused. It got so bad, Aunty Kehinde called for a family meeting, every of her children was present including Titi. She apologized to her family for all the pain that her decision to keep Titi with them has caused, but she had made a promise to her brother that she would have Titi stay with them until she got married. He made her swear that Titi would never go to stay with his wife or her sister. One of Aunty Kehinde's children asked why so. She told them she could not tell them, but when Titi was older, she would tell her and then let her decide on what she wants to do. She also told them that a few days to her brother's death she had received an express mail from him begging her not to send Titi back to his wife or her sister, no matter what happens and he was afraid he might not have more time to live. Aunty Kehinde begged her family to please be her strength and help her and Titi through these trying times. The children understood and agreed to stand together in love and support their mother. All these made Titi cry.
For three years, her presence caused so much pain to this nice family. Titi often blamed herself for her father's death. This made her more depressed. Sometimes she wished her mother and sister would just kill her already: the torture was too much, being sickly and in and out of hospitals. Once she attempted to commit suicide. She took an overdose of sleeping tablets. As she drifted off to sleep her mother sensed it and immediately revived her with the flesh. That was followed by more torture. Titi's life did not belong to her and so she had no right to take it.
Titi drew strength from the love she received from her aunt and family, from the sacrifice of her father, and her drive to ensure that her enemies don't win. The positive side to being denied the flesh was its reduced influence on her good soul. By the time she turned ten years old, the call to meetings and the torments stopped. From then onward all she remembers about the last three years was being very sickly all the time, with no memory of the cult or the torture. At last, she felt free and happy.
