"You would not remember being initiated as a child, and that was why I advised your father to ensure you don't grow up under the same roof as your mother. It would have been easier to get your back into the group," Iya told her.

"Now I understand the miscarriages and all the misfortune that befell my husband just after he had completed my mother's house," Titi said.

"There is something special about you, your spiritual energy is strong. The Chinese call it 'Chi'. I believe that is the reason your mother was keen on having you join. It could also be the reason you could see into the other realm. Most see nothing until reawakening."

"Please have some more biscuits and juice," bringing the box of biscuits and jar of juice to Titi. 

"Your last miscarriage was because of stress. At this stage, I guess they had given up on trying to get you to join. They were more interested in your children that is why they came to anoint you in the hospital," Iya added.

"And my dream?" Titi asked.

"The dream you had yesterday was a vision. Now you understand that they want your daughter," Iya told her.

Iya's mother was a single mother who got pregnant very early and had died at childbirth. The aunt who raised Iya was an Aje and was the one who initiated her. Her aunt was cruel to her and never expected her to survive the initiation, but somehow she did. When Iya turned fifteen, she stole her aunt's money and ran away from home because of her cruelty. Her aunt never stopped tormenting her in her dreams. At first, she didn't know it was her aunt doing this, but she kept having nightmares, which finally stopped when she met the previous Iya who lived in this house. She was the one who helped break the influence of the flesh and the nightmare and sent her to school as well. She also taught her " the art" so she too can help others.

"To prevent your daughter from being initiated, you would need to hide her daughter's Light and the only place where darkness no matter how powerful dare not enter is the Heavenlies,"

"Heavenlies?" Titi asked.

"Yes the Heavenly places, it is that plane where pure light exists, there no single darkness and no one with darkness can go in, the Light will destroy it," Iya answered her.

There are two conditions, someone has to take her daughter and secondly, her daughter has to be willing to go. Titi's daughter would be more willing to go anywhere with her mother, but because of the flesh that Titi had consumed in the past, she cannot enter. Titi would need to be purified, and this would take a lot of fasting and meditation. The process of purification subdues the flesh, refines the spirit or chi, thereby increase the power of her Light.

The Aje often work with Familiars. Familiars are very low-ranking demonic forces who stay in families and know all about the genealogy and history of families. They know the sickness that runs in families; they know what habits, additions, temperaments, mindsets, incest that run in families. Because of this, familiars can predict to a high level of accuracy. Familiars are attracted to dark and negative thoughts. Familiars provide human with negative thoughts and imagination, and allow the human to blow them out of proportion. They can therefore set things in motion for a person's downfall. They aren't all-knowing butthey have a very good network of communication, whatever one knows the others know automatically. It is, for this reason, she has a protective barrier over her house to prevent Familiars from knowing what is going on in her home. Titi realizing that nothing is what it seems. Not even her thoughts. It was a great comfort for Titi to have met this woman, Iya. Titi was ready to do whatever to save her daughter.

"You will do this exercise during the day only as the senses of the Aje are very weak during the day. I have a protective barrier over my house so that if perchance anyone is watching, they would not know what is going on here and therefore will not try to stop us," Iya reassures her. 

The purification process was not as easy as Titi thought it would be. Titi was never one to fast, it was really difficult at the beginning. There were days she would go without food until around two o'clock but when she has to fast, it becomes more difficult staying of food and water. She motivated herself by reminding herself that the reasons she was doing this for her child and future children. She started with fasting till noon, then extending to 3 pm. Then gradually she could go on fasting for three days without food and water. Sometimes meditating would require her just sitting still with her eyes closed and try to keep focus for 5, 10, 15 minutes and then for up to an hour. Other times the meditation would be chants words such as;

'I am strong, I am in the Light, darkness has no place in me. I destroy the flesh and I live by the Light, through the Light, I walk in the Light. The Light shines in the darkness and vanquishes it. My Light defeats darkness.'

It a good thing that she had one of the School Prefects stay with Funmi anytime Titi had to be out of the house. She had made this arrangement with the girl's mother and in exchange  extra lessons twice a week. This made it easy for her to go on her training and have been on it for about a year.  It has not been easy  to Light walk  but now she can enter the astral plane without the flesh, using her Light only and her Light has been growing. The next phase is to enter her daughter's dreams. The plan is to do this during her daughter's afternoon naps. Titi would bring Funmi to Iya's place  and once in the astral plane she will locate her daughter's and get into dreams. In her daughter's dream world, she would play with her so that her daughter got used to seeing her and knows who she is in that plane. They usually do this exercise once a week and it lasts for about fifteen minutes for each session.   Most times her daughter wakes up with no recollection of the dream, but once in a while, she tells Titi that she had a dream they were playing in a beautiful garden or her school playground.
