~Chapter 22~

Nicki's POV

It was hardly New Year's, and practically everyone had gone missing. Rose, in search of Aaron after hearing of Ty's plans on killing him. Ty himself, on the lookout for Aaron for revenge. Nick and Cole, for reasons unknown. Even myself, after I realized that Ty was dead serious about killing Aaron, I took off. I couldn't ever see Ty harming someone, it was foreign to me.

Then I realized I had to look through that. Titus' parents died and Titus was the only one to support him, but he was killed. I myself wasn't capable of murder, but if someone brought harm to Ty I would do whatever to get that person. Everything was just a large jumble. I wouldn't let anyone contact me, but I still kept my mind open to Rose and Ty although Ty couldn't reply.

His scent was hard to go off on, it became weak at some spots but strong at some. I couldn't think of places he'd be, which made it even more difficult. 'We need to find him before it's too late!' Val worriedly howled.

'I know, I'm trying my best.' I even visited the fields, his scent was there but it was old. Val wanted to take over, but she wouldn't be much help. Running in my wolf form, I started into the woods. Rose's scent was faint there, but it was a good start. 'Goddess, what if it is too late?' I gulped.

'Don't say that, you would know, the mate bond would become weaker. We'll find Ty and Rose.' I silently agreed with Val, glad to have her by my side for support and slowed down. My paws were aching from running non stop, so I shifted back and put on the clothes I carried in my mouth. I decided to continue on foot, although my senses weren't fully enhanced when I was a human.

I caught Rose's scent in the trees and began to follow it. It was not fresh, at least 2 hours old. Rose was an expert at covering her scent, but this time it wasn't. It became stronger the farther I got, indicating that she shifted. She either forgot to get rid of her scent, or something put her in danger. It pushed me to move even faster because it was unlike her to forget such a thing. A howl enveloped the air, it was a pained howl. I ran as fast as possible to the sound. There was a clearing farther ahead of me, and there lay a large clump of brown fur. Rose's scent surrounded it, along with Aaron's. I rushed to her, turning her over to face me. Her fur was matted in blood, and I felt my entire body freeze. She shifted back, a silver knife inside of her chest as she slowly pulled it out. "Rose, oh my god." I couldn't help but cry as she lay in my arms barely breathing.

"I'm so sorry Nicki." she whispered. "I chose wrong."

"What do you mean?" I asked her, hugging my best friend close to me. "You chose what wrong?"

"I chose the wrong mate." she stated in one breath. I tried to stop her bleeding, but nothing worked.

"No Roro. Don't talk," I whispered brushing her blonde hair away. "you'll be okay."

"I have to tell you Nicki. I got 2 mates, and I picked the wrong one." tears began to fall out of her own eyes. "I couldn't be with Titus, he... he hurt me ." she whispered. "The same can't happen for Nick and Cole, Nicki." her eyes became wide. "It..... It shouldn't be this way." her voice wavered towards the end, until her entire body became limp.

"Rose," I shook her like I did to Titus. "Rose please! I can't lose you too!" I begged. "Rosalyn this isn't funny!" I cried, I couldn't face the fact that my best friend, my sister was dead. It seemed impossible to me. "Rose I'm sorry! Just please wake up!" I begged.

'Dad she isn't moving! What do I do?' I cried through mindlink.

'Who isn't?'

'Rose, dad. She's.... She's hurt!' I rocked her back and forth. 'In the woods, I... I left my scent behind.' I informed.

'Stay right where you are. I'm coming.' he sent quickly. I stared at Rose, her blood on my hands.

"Why Rose, why?" I questioned aloud, not wanting to leave her. "You're an idiot Rose, why didn't you tell me!" everything in my life was falling apart, and I couldn't do anything to stop it. Her body lost it's heat, becoming pale quickly. I didn't let her go, I couldn't. She was my best friend after all, and I promised her I would be there to the end.

But her end was too soon.

"My baby!" Mrs. Everette cried.

I couldn't stand to see them any longer, so I walked out of the room. She was dead. I couldn't stand to say the 4 words that broke my heart. My bestfriend was dead.

Rose.

Rosalyn Nina Everette was dead.

"Nicki... " Cole cautiously took a step forward.

"Go away." I replied without looking up. I knew that I had to find Ty soon or I would loose him too. I couldn't live without him. He was the number 1 person that I couldn't stand hearing the word; dead.

"I'm sorry sis." Cole hugged me, clearly deciding to not listen to me. "Rose shouldn't have died like that." I hugged him back not in the mood to tell him to leave me be.

"I know." was my only response. He sighed and stared at my broken face.

"This is what we've been trying to protect you from Nicki," he frowned. "pain."

"You can't save me from everything Cole, you know that."

"I know but, you're just our little sister and our only one." I kissed his cheek and wiped away my tears. I couldn't let the same happen to Nick and and Cole, Rose and Titus ended up dead in the end. Only because Rose chose wrong.

"I need fresh air." I excused and made my way to the back exit. When I was outside, I instantly swallowed down oxegyn. It felt good to finally be able to breathe and get my thoughts organized.

Warm arms embraced me from behind, and I couldn't help but smile when I realized it was Ty. "You came back?" I questioned without turning to him.

"Not for long. I heard Rose died and I couldn't... L-Leave you."

"Ty don't do this. I lost Rose, and Titus, I can't lose you either. I can't..." I begged twisting around my body to face him. "please." I knew he wasn't himself, his wolf was probably pissed too.

"I have to. He killed my brother Nicki, he was the only family I had when my parents died, and now.... Now I have no one!"

"You have me, and I have you." I whispered. "It doesn't have to be this way." I couldn't let him go marching to his death, blinded by his anger. What would he think after the fact he killed Aaron? What if Aaron actually gets to kill him first?

"I'm sorry," he kissed my lips softly, almost as if it were a goodbye kiss. Val whimpered from my consciousness, unable to help. "but I have to do this." he stared into my eyes as if getting the memory burned into his brain before he began to walk towards the woods. I could only stare, there was no point in trying to convince him any longer. I only had 2 choices; let him possibly run off into his death,

Or do something about it.

A/N

I was so tired when I was typing this chapter. Especially the part where I killed Rose *chuckles nervously*

So uhhhhh, how bout' that weather?

Okay okay I'll stay on the subject. If you're wondering...

Rose is dead. As in; not ressurecting from the dead.

Titus is dead. As in; they're already building his coffin.

So just to clarify the Titus Rose, Rose Aaron situation... Titus and Aaron were her mates. There is a reason that explains later on why Ty and Titus didn't get the same mate. So, Titus hurt Rose, Rose got mad and chose Aaron and she's like "*coughs up blood* I chose wrong." because she was supposed to pick little Titi (Pronounced Ty-tee) but Noooooope he hurt her so ya know..... She went to Aaron.

Anyways, the next chaoter will probably want you guys to stab me in my cold, evil heart. It's gonna be on Ty going to Aaron, and a special guest who you probably already know and ya know.... Stuff happens;)
