"Drink Delilah drink. Drink Delilah drink! DRINK DELILIAH DRINK!!!!! EEEHHHHHHHHHHH!!!"
I closed my eyes as I took the last tequila shot. My throat was dead to me. My liver wanted to strangle me and leave me. My brain was unexpectedly having the time of its mindless life.
"DRUNK-O DELILAHHHHHHHHHH!!!!" Everyone cheered. Yes. My family was weird. But I loved them nonetheless.
I had my hands out to steady myself as I got playful nudges and hugs and was being pulled left, right and center until I raised my hands and fist-pumped the air.
As the crowd slowly dispersed I was able to breath properly and I went straight back to the bar. The bartender took a couple orders before he got to me. "Hey girl, another shot or back to your usual rum n coke" he laughed when I wrinkled my nose as he mentioned 'shot'.
"Back to the you-shoo-all please Terry" I smiled as he presented me my drink in under a minute. I turned on my seat and watched everyone. They were all so happy and I guess when I thought about it, they're the reason why I was so optimistic about everything. Probably the reason why I was so naive and sheltered from everything as well.
My sister Rosie came up with my stupid little tiara with the number 21 on it. I rolled my eyes as she placed it on my head and gave me a kiss on the cheek.
"Awwww I remember us being so little and now we are both so grown up!!!" she grinned as she pinched my cheek and sauntered back to Jakob, her winter fling.
I honestly couldn't wait till it hit midnight and the night was no longer about me. Fun fact of being born on the 31st of December? I can't really think of one.
Only 1.5 hours to go.
I took another sip of my drink and went to the dancefloor and coaxed a few of my friends to come alongside and dance with me. And then Cassie's song came on
Taking sips of my drink while I was swaying to the music and jumping when the beat starting building up. I was ecstatic. I had my hands in the air and I watched them in a trance as my hips had a mind of their own. It was almost an out-of-body experience I had never felt before. Thank you booze and before I knew it, I was back at the bar.
"Hello Terry again" I sweetly smiled at him as I leaned over the bar and held his hands "thank you for the booze. So so very much much" as I let his hands go and blew him a kiss as he made me another drink. Just as he was about to slide it my way another bartender came and whispered something in his ear. He looked back at me and over at what appeared to be a cordoned off area of the club. Terry pointed over there and motioned me to look over. I saw two guys, one blonde and the other dark haired, both standing at their booth and raising their glasses. I'm pretty sure I saw them mouth 'happy birthday' as I grinned and raised my glass to them. "Cheers!" I yelled out but I'm pretty sure they didn't hear me anyway.
