I wake up to the noise of my alarm. Hitting it, it stops. "Church is today," I tell myself.
I through my covers off, grab my church clothes and everything else needed for a shower. Rushing into the bathroom, I quickly turn on the shower, and get everything ready, and step in.
When I'm done, I dry myself off with a towel, and get on my makeup and clothes.
Felling refreshed, I come out and grab my book bag, which containing some valuable things.
Stacie is still asleep, as usual, no surprise there. I then head down stairs to find only Daniel is awake, eating his cereal. "Hey, Danny," I say. "Hey, Shelby," he responds, looking up at me and smiles, then goes back to eating.
I plop right next to him. Daniel then looks over at me, seeing that I'm depressed. "Shelby, if you need to talk, I'm here." A tear rolls down my left cheek. "Daniel, I want Colton home," I barely manage to say.
"Don't worry, he'll be home before you know it," Daniel says, rubbing my back.
Daniel and I are the only ones up for a good hour before everybody wakes up.
When everyone's done with their morning routine, we all head out the door and into the car, and drive to church.
We arrive fifteen minutes early, as always.
Stepping inside the building, the missionaries are helping out set up the church with the bishop. "Hi, Elder Smith, hi, Elder Garner, how are you two?" I ask, shaking their hands.
"We're doing great. You?" Elder Garner says. "I'm, ok," I reply. "Just ok?" Elder Smith asks, setting up a table. "Ok, you got me, I'm terrible." "Why's that?" Garner wonders. "Colton left for the MTC yesterday. I already miss him dearly."
Elder Smith walks up to me. "That's one of the toughest things that a family member has to go through. Don't worry, you're not the only one," tells the missionary with a wink. I couldn't help but smile at the thought that I wasn't the only one who had to go through the pain.
The church was filling up by the minute. I then spot my best friend Heather, her light blue dress moving as she walked, her brown curls bouncing up and down, and her green eyes shown like emeralds.
She walks up to me and gives me a big hug. "How are you?" I ask. "Pretty fantastic. You?" Heather says. "Terrible," I respond. Releasing the hold, Heather's eyes pierce my stormy blue ones. "Colton?" "Ya, already miss him. It's the first Sunday that we haven't been together."
Heather goes on and on with different ways of cheering me up, each one making me laugh.
Church started, and Heather, my family, and I sat together. I then see someone in the corner of my eye. Looking over to the left, I see Ky standing there, hands in pockets, a bright smile light up, and his icy blue eyes look at me intently.
I move over on to Heather's left side, and pat an open chair, motioning for him to sit down. He comes over, and sits, his white shirt tucked in, a pair of black pants and a black belt were on, and a tie that had a pattern on it.
"How are you?" Ky whispers in my ear. "Not good. I had a dream last night that Colton came home early. I then woke up in the middle of the night, all excited, but realized it was just a dream," I sigh.
Ky then stretches an arm around my shoulders, and pulls me close. I then rest my head on his shoulder, and close my eyes.
The first hour of church was over, and next came Sunday-school. Ky, Heather, and I are all the same age, so we go to class together.
