One Crazy Day

The day before Prom came, and the whole entire school was buzzing about it.

"Huh, and I thought seminary was even crazier when everyone was talking about Prom," my sister says. "I agree," I truthfully say.

"So, what are you two going to wear? You know, to Prom?" Heather asks, readjusting her things in her arms. "Well, I'm going to wear a lime green mermaid style dress with a few rhinestones-" Stacie begins. "A few?" I interrupt. "Ok, there's a TON. But, my friend that works at the mall's dress shop TOTALLY knows me." "I think she knows you too well," I mumble. My sister then gives me a look. "Well, you know what I mean. There's a lot of rhinestones. She knows you a lot." "Well, not as good as my sister," Stacie says and outstretches her arm around my shoulders, and hugs me. "Hey! I'm here too!" I hear Jason.

When he said that, it reminded me of when Ky, Heather, and I were in front of my locker and Heather said that she was wondering if SHE was invisible.

Then, all of a sudden, thoughts of Ky came rushing in, and it pounded me hard.

"Hey," I hear a voice say. I jump and look up at Alex. "Are you ok?" My blue eyes started to tear up. All I say is, "I need to go somewhere real quick." I then bolt away from the group. Heather, Alex, Stacie, Jayce, and Jason were watching me like a hawk.

"Shelby?" Stacie hollers out to me.

I ignore my friends pleads to come back as I burst through the bathroom door.

No one is in there, so I run to the stall at the very end and lock it. I drop all of my books to the floor, making a loud THUMP and BANG, and I begin to cry.

10 minutes went by, and I realized that I wasn't the only one living on Earth.

"Shelby?" I hear a muffled voice come to the door. I ignore it, and bury my head in-between my legs as I hold my legs with my arms and hands, and cry.

"Shelby, please, come to the door. What's wrong?" I hear it again. I realize it's Alex.

"You wouldn't understand. Just, PLEASE, go away!" I shout. Alex's voice then subsides. More muffled voices come in, and the door opens.

"Please say that's not Alex. If Mr. Kindle finds out that he came into the girls bathroom, he'll get suspended for sure, and we WON'T go to Prom together," I say inside my head.

"Shelby! What is up with you?" Stacie demands. I sigh in relaxation. "Shelby, answer!" she then pounded on the stall door. "Stacie! Stop!" I scream at her. She then pauses and walks away from the door. "Shelby," Heather begins, and she pokes her head underneath the stall door. "What are you thinking?"

I'm about to tell her, but I then get a huge lump in my throat. "Ky," I barely manage. She then gasps and stands up.

A few seconds later, Stacie's voice rang in. "Shelby, I'm sorry for being mad. Please forgive me?" "I do." "Thanks, and, now, can you please open the stall door?" I hesitate, and say, "Sure."

As I do so, Heather and Stacie come running in and they both give me a great big hug. They release and ask me for every detail. I explain why I acted the way I did, and a few other things. They totally understood.

"Don't worry, we'll have a great day tomorrow, and we'll try to by-pass today as quickly as possible, ok?" Heather reassures. "Ok."

The three of us leave to find the three boys waiting impatiently for us.

"There you girls are. What's wrong?" Jayce asks, walking up to Heather. "Just, a little problem," she responds. "Oh, ok." There was then a pause.

"So, Heather," Stacie began, breaking the silence. "What dress are you wearing?" "Oh! I'm going to be wearing a coral dress with a black top with capped sleeves. A rhinestone belt is sewn on an is about 3 inches. The rest of the dress is coral and is floor length," Heather excitedly says.
