"I can't believe that we graduated!" I say enthusiastically. "I know. Me too," Ky's says.
"Alright, Sophomores! One more song, then it's time to hit the road!" shouted the DJ.
"Oh, I got a song. I'll be right back," Ky says, jogging over to the DJ. He tells him a song, and then comes back.
"Alright, this song goes out to Shelby Thompson from Ky Jackson!" the DJ said, pointing at me. All of a sudden, everyone started to cheer.
"What song did you pick?" I ask Ky. He just smiles. "You'll recognize it," Ky says.
I wait until the song plays. It's "Thinking Out Loud" by Ed Sheeran, Ky's and my favorite song.
I take my hands up to my face, cupping my mouth and nose, tears slowly coming down.
Ky looks at me and smiles, then takes my hand down from my face. "Would you like to dance?" He quietly asks, wiping away my tears. "Yes," I barely manage to say, nodding my head slowly.
We were still in the middle of the dance floor with everyone around us, but then they all started to get off, leaving Ky and I the only ones in the dance floor.
I look around at everyone. My friends are smiling at us. Ky's friends are hootin' then go quiet.
"Ky, they're all looking at you," I quietly say to my boyfriend. "Believe me, they're all looking at you," he smiles.
Halfway through the song, some people joined in on the dance.
I look over at Heather who is shyly talking to Jayce. "Hey, Ky, Heater and Jayce are finally talking," I whisper. He looks over at the couple. "I really think that's cute, even for a boy to say it," he replies, smiling. "Do you think that they will dance?" I ask. "I know they will," Ky smiles brightly.
We kept our eyes on them, and sure enough, they came out an danced near us. I can't stop smiling at how cute they are together. "I think that they were meant to be, don't you think, Ky?" I ask, looking up at him. "Yes," he says.
When the song was about to end, the people went off the dance floor except for Jayce, Heather, Ky, and I, leaving us alone to dance.
The song ended, and left us standing there, looking at each other.
"I can't believe the night is over," I exclaim, looking down at our feet. "It's not over yet," I hear Ky say. Then, Ky takes his finger, and nudges my head upward slowly.
I make eye contact with him. He smiles, and dips down to my ear, saying, "Shelby Thompson, you are gorgeous tonight, and always have. I love the way you are, and the way you make people laugh, and the way you make so many friends. I know people want to be you, and that they look up to you. Shelby, I love you dearly," Ky whispers, tickling the sensitive spot behind my ear with his finger.
I then tilt my head that way, trying to stop the tickling feeling, then the unexpected came. When I tilted my head to the right, Ky then placed a kiss on my lips.
Straightening ourselves out, we stand up straight. The crowd of students started to cheer with happiness.
Pulling apart, we smiled at each other, then I stand on my toes and give Ky a huge hug, my arms wrapped around his neck, pulling him against me. I feel Ky's arms wrap around my waist, gently placing me against against him.
"Thank you for everything, Ky," I whisper in his ear. "You are welcome, Shelby," he said.
The time came for all of us to go home.
We all said goodbye to each other, and most of us headed home.
Jayce, Heather, Ky, and I were the very last ones besides Stacie and Lacy. As Stacie and Lacy were talking in the corner, the four of us talked together.
