Kayleigh's POV

I sighed as I stared at the two figures laughing together. Gathering up my courage and setting my insecurities aside I walked towards them confidently.

"Hey" I greeted smiling at Vaughn who turned around and smiled back at me. I directed my eyes towards Levin who only looked at me blankly. The once joyful aura was wiped out by my presence making me more insecure.

The defeating silence was cut off by Levin "Uhhhh I'm gonna go... Catch ya later Isaac".

Why do I feel like...

"-leigh... Kayleigh" Vaughn's voice snapped me from my thoughts.

"I wanted to talk to you...about us" I started. Vaughn only nodded signaling me he was all ears. Taking a deep breath I started.

"Look Vaughn you're the best boyfriend I ever had, but... we just don't click you know," I said the tears on my eyes threatening to spill. No, I have to be confident or he'll never believe me.

"What do you mean?" He questioned.

Please don't sound so broken...

He is broken when he's with me

"Look everyone says we're the perfect couple but we are not" I stated my hands are trembling but I can't let him see. "We just don't bring out the best in each other...Clearly, I don't make you a better person" Levin does.

"So you're breaking up with me?" He asked his eyes staring into mine. I can't answer him. I really like Vaughn but I'm not the one for him.

"Yes," I answered as I felt my heart break into pieces. From the day I saw Levin and Vaughn I knew that they have a connection. A connection I can't have with Vaughn. Levin was able to make Vaughn laugh and smile in a span of weeks. It took me a lot of time and effort to do that.

Levin. It's not his fault it never was. I would blame myself but I am not really at fault, right? I mean it's not my fault for not being cheerful and optimistic as Levin. I was - still is jealous of him, but what can I do. He's perfect for Vaughn.

I looked at Vaughn who was looking down at the ground silently. Vaughn...someone who likes to be silent and mind his own business. Someone who caught my attention and heart without uttering a single word. Someone who doesn't belong to me.

"Vaughn" I called making him look at me. "We both know that I don't make you that happy... Look let's face it we are not made to be in this kind of relationship... There's someone who makes you laugh more" I said before offering him a weak smile and turning around to leave.

Some people say when they break up with someone their hearts are left with them. Not me I won't leave my heart with Vaughn. It may be broken for now but in the future, I know it will be healed and be happy.

I looked back one last time seeing Levin hugging Vaughn tightly. I know Levin's the one for him. Hopefully, he realizes that soon. For a moment my eyes connected with Levin and instead of glaring at him, I smiled genuinely before turning and continuing my departure.

I scoffed happily, that guy is great. Maybe will be great friends when things are different.
