Eddie's POV

Settling into life in West Jordan didn't take long. Luckily with Steph being super organized and helpful, I managed to get everything sorted, I even had a car and my mobile was fully working. Which came in very useful.

I was excited to meet with Jessica too. She was taking me for a quick tour of the campus before I had my official enrollment.
"Hey, you must be Eddie, Edith?" I heard a soft voice call from my side as I waited by a bench at the front of the campus gates.
"Yeah, you must be Jessica!" I responded, beaming.
"Yay, it's so nice to meet you? What do you prefer being called, Eddie or Edith?" She asked, embracing me in a friendly hug.
"Oh Eddie please, my actual name is Edith but everyone calls me Eddie" I admitted, cringing slightly at the poor name choice.
"I like it" she responded, " well we may as well walk and talk, I'll show you round and we can get a coffee if you'd like?" She offered as we slowly began the tour.
"So, where about a in England are you from?" She quizzed.
"A town called chesterfield, it's kinda smack bang in the middle of the country" I remarked.
"Oh cute, I've been to Manchester and London" she noted.
"Oh nice, England is just very cold and damp compared to over here" I joked.
"It gets cold here in the winter but for the rest of the year it's great" Jessica explained.
"Thank you by the way for agreeing to help me out like this" I chirped up before I forgot.
"Oh no don't worry, I love to meet people and when Brandon was telling me about you, he really seemed to like you so I thought you must be worth it" she shrugged with a gentle smile.
"He did?" I queried.
"Oh yeah, he really wanted me to get in touch with you. In fact I think he said he has a business proposition for you. Something to do with your art?" She added, shrugging her shoulders.
"Really?" I was amazed by what I was hearing. There must be a miscommunication somewhere.
"Yeah, I tell you what I'll give you his number and you can text him later or something to set it out" Jessica suggested, pulling out her phone. So then she called out his number and I tapped it into my phone. This was unbelievable.
"Anyways, back on with the tour" she chuckled and we resumed the tour. We strolled through the pretty campus, stopping occasionally for Jessica to point things out. In all honesty my mind was having difficulty staying on task, I couldn't help but think of Brandon and his business proposition. It also made me anxious thinking about the possibility of having to call him later. I did my best to distract myself from that possibility and focused on my private tour. 10 minutes later we made it to the campus coffee shop and we found ourselves a little table and ordered a couple of coffees.
"Any extra curricular activities you'd be interested in joining, I'd definitely recommend something, you'll make loads more friends that way" Jessica offered, sitting back in the chair.
"Oh yeah something. Something active, but I'm open to anything really, was gonna see what's on offer" I explained, thinking of what I could see myself doing.
"There's all sorts, you'll get to meet the club committees during enrollment at some point" Jessica confirmed, reassuring me. "So are you a member of the church?"
"I'm not no but I have Christian family connections in Colorado, that's as close as I'm gonna get" I responded, a little self conscious by her question.
"Ah ok, a lot of BYU students are Mormon as you may have guessed. Do you still have to take some religion classes?" She probed.
"Yeah I think we have to take like 1 for each year or something to graduate" I shrugged, sipping my coffee, "I love learning about different religions and faith though, I find it fascinating" I admitted.
"I don't know if you he told you this but me and Brandon, our family is very Mormon" she chuckled, " I mean we're normal, we're just as Mormon as say the average American or Brit, is Christian, if you know what I mean?" She explained light heartedly. I nodded.
"Makes sense" I smiled, appreciating the conversation.
"Glad that doesn't scare you off" she chuckled finishing her coffee.
"Oh no" I responded, taking one last sip of my coffee. "And this coffee is definitely worth it" I acknowledged as we gathered our things ready to make a move.
"We should do this again sometime" Jessica declared as we headed for the door. We thanked the baristas as we left and headed towards the car park.
"Yeah definitely, thank you so much again for your advice" I beamed, feeling ever so grateful and glad for Brandon making the connection.
"Oh no bother Eddie" She swatted her hand. We then made it to the parking lot.
"Drive safe, hopefully see you soon" I called as I reached my little red chevvy sonic.
"You too, remember to message Brandon " she chuckled as she made it her car and we eventually parted. I made a little mental note to send that message as soon as I made it back to the house.
