Tempest slept well for the first time in a while. Her mind was strangely being at ease, despite everything else that had just transcended. It was a little past dawn when she woke up to a knock at the door. Tempest sat up quickly, rubbing the sleep out of her eyes.
"Tempest?" She heard Twilight's voice from the other side of the door, "Are you awake yet?"
"Yeah, I just woke up." Tempest replied from the bed, "What is it?"
"Can I come in?"
Tempest sat there in shock for a second before scrambling out of the bed sheets.
"No, not yet." Tempest shouted, "Let me put on my cloak." Tempest checked in every corner of the room she was staying in, but couldn't find it. "Darn, where'd it go?" She whispered.
Not wanting to keep the princess waiting, she raised her voice towards the door. "Nevermind, you can come in."
Twilight opened the door and stepped in. Tempest couldn't help but feel pulled towards her. She looked so beautiful.
"Why were you looking for your cloak?"
Tempest shook her head and told herself to focus. She awkwardly responded with, "Well, after wearing armor for as long as I have, I kind of feel exposed without a little bit of coverage."
Tempest saw Twilight staring at her flank, and almost backed away, feeling her face go red.
"Tempest..." Her voice trailed off. "You don't have a cutie mark?"
Tempest flinched. She lowered her gaze to the ground beneath her. "It's another thing I lost when my horn broke. I never had the chance to earn it since I had run away."
"Well," Twilight's voice made Tempest's gaze move up to meet hers. "good thing I happen to know of a group of fillies that would be more than willing to help you!" She smiled.
"Who are they?"
"I'll explain later." Twilight led Tempest out of her room, "For now, let's have breakfast!"
The two mares made there way to the dining room. Twilight used her magic to open the door in front of them. Every place on the table was set for eating.
"What are we having?" Tempest asked as she walked over to a spot.
"My personal favorite, pancakes!" She squealed a little while levitating a stack of pancakes off the table. Tempest had to keep herself from giggling at how excited Twilight was.
"Why are all the places set?" Tempest asked.
"Oh right, I forgot to tell you." Twilight realized, "My friends are coming over for breakfast today. We do this on special occasions, and usually right after, we head to the school." Twilight took her place at the end of the table.
Tempest walked over to the opposite end and sat down, claiming her spot at the table. "School?" She asked.
"We opened a school recently to teach ponies and creatures about friendship." Twilight replied, already starting to eat the pancakes on her plate.
"Wow, sounds like you've got your hooves full!" Tempest struggled to pick up her fork with her magic. She glanced at Twilight, who was effortlessly lifting the fork and bringing a mouthful of food to her muzzle. How is she able to do that?
"Yes, I do." Twilight sighed, "Which means we won't have a lot of time to catch up today." She paused for a moment to take another bite of pancake. Her face contorted in thought. "Unless," She pondered, "you can come over after school's out, and we can catch up while I'm grading tests from today."
