Chapter 1: Starlight's Coronation

~Over a Year Later~

Twilight took her place with the other princesses in Canterlot's Ceremony Room. All of Equestria has been fidgety and surprised over what has happened over the past couple weeks. It was only a week ago that Starlight Glimmer had helped Twilight and her friends defeat Queen Chrysalis and her Changelings, and Starlight just became a princess.

Well, not officially, since the coronation hasn't started yet, Twilight reminded herself. Overall, today was a big day.

As soon as the ponies took their seats, Princess Celestia took her place at the front of the stage.

"Fillies and Gentlecolts! We are gathered here today to celebrate the accomplishments of a former pupil of Twilight's." Celestia stepped back, and Twilight stepped up to her spot.

"When I met Starlight Glimmer in her village of Equality, she had the idea that cutie marks, our unique symbol for our gifts, were evil, and drew ponies to conclusions that they were better than everypony else. But today, I say with great joy that she has long seen the errors of her ways, and has defeated Queen Chrysalis not just once, but twice, and that last time for good. The way she handled both situations deems her ready for what comes next. Fillies and Gentlecolts! May I present to you for the very first time, Princess Starlight Glimmer!"

The guards at the entrance used their magic to open the doors, and in stepped Starlight, her wings unfurled and stretched out beside her. As she walked down the aisle, Twilight felt pride and happiness for her pupil.

Starlight stepped up the stairs and stopped in front of Twilight. Twilight looked over and, using her magic, picked up the crown that Spike presented to the new princess. Starlight bowed her head, and Twilight set the crown in place and gave Starlight a big smile.

Starlight turned around to face the crowd, and cheers erupted from all over the room. Starlight turned and smiled at the princesses with tears of joy in her eyes.

~That Evening~

A party was held in the Canterlot Gardens to commemorate Queen Chrysalis' defeat. Starlight and Twilight were chatting when Trixie and Sunburst came over.

"Way to go, Starlight!" Trixie gave Starlight a tight embrace.

"Yeah," Sunburst adds, pushing up his glasses, "Congratulations!"

Trixie let go of Starlight as she replied, "Aww, thanks, guys! I wouldn't be a princess today if I-"

"Yeah, yeah, that's sweet and all," Trixie interrupted and turned to face Twilight. "But when am I going to get my wings? I helped with the first defeat, so the Great and Powerful Trixie should get her wings, too!"

"Trixie!" Twilight groaned.

"What? I'm just saying!"

Twilight glares at Trixie, in which she quickly corrects herself.

"Oh, okay, fine, you're right. I guess I'm not ready." Trixie sighed, "It's a responsibility Trixie doesn't want to deal with, anyway." 

"It's probably a responsibility you couldn't handle in the first place." Starlight mutters under her breath, but loud enough for both Twilight and Trixie to hear. 

Trixie quickly turned to Starlight in frustration. "Hey!" She shouted. "It is most definitely something Trixie can handle!"

"All right, Trixie, that's enough," Twilight softly scolded, "Now, before I go mingle, I just want to congratulate you one last time." She turned her attention to Starlight. "I will always be here if you need anything." She said, putting a wing on Starlight's shoulder.
