It was now morning, and Twilight was having a hard time keeping her eyes open. Even after Tempest and Spike left her bedroom, her mind had raced even more than it previously did. She had rummaged through all the books, scrolls, and tomes she had brought into her room.

I can't believe she even likes me back! Twilight cheered, slightly smiling. That smile was short lived, however, as she recalled the trial date she had set that day.

This will never be able to work out, Twilight somberly thought, Tempest and I will never be together because I'll have to sentence her to life in prison for all the casualties she caused.

Twilight rubbed her bleary eyes and let out a big yawn. She glanced at the clock on her desk. it read 7 o'clock. A knock at the door startled the princess, and she let out a gasp. She turned around in her chair to see Tempest open the door and walk in.

"Oh, sorry!" Tempest apologized, "I didn't know you were in the middle of something. Anyways, good morning."

"Morning...." Twilight trailed off as a yawn escaped her mouth, "Tempest." She turned back around to face her desk and hide her drooping eyelids from Tempest. Hoofsteps echoed across the room as Tempest closed the gap between the two mares and put a hoof across Twilight's back and over her shoulder in comfort.

"Did you get any sleep last night?" Tempest's voice sounded concerned.

Twilight opened the curtains slightly with her aura. Seeing the blinding sunlight filter through the window, she closed them again. "I..." She hesitated, thinking of a way to phrase it as to not concern her crush. "I guess I didn't." Twilight put a hoof to her forehead. "I've been busy..." She paused as a yawn escaped her mouth.

"I'll leave you be." Tempest removed her hoof from Twilight's shoulder as Twilight laid her head down on her desk. "You need to sleep, Twilight." Twilight groggily stood up from her stool and headed over to her bed as she heard Tempest trot to the door. As she got into bed, Tempest poked her head from the other side of the doorway.

"I'll bring you something to eat, and then let you sleep. Sound good?" Tempest said. Twilight nodded, and Tempest closed the door behind her.

Twilight's thoughts started to wander as her heartbeat started racing.

What in the hay is going on?! Twilight felt like leaping for joy. She rubbed my back! Oh my Celestia!! Her mind felt like it was running a race, and excitement overtook her tiredness. That energy wore off within seconds when she remembered that this newfound love might be short lived.

We won't ever get to be together. Her mind kept repeating herself. Twilight felt her heart starting to tear as she turned with her back facing the door and closed her eyes tightly.

Another knock at the door made Twilight jump. She heard the door open behind her and the faint sound of an aura approaching her bedside table. Twilight opened her eyes, turned, and saw Tempest set the plate down on the bedside table with her aura.

"Here's some food." Tempest whispered. She smiled at the Princess, which made Twilight's heart race once more. "Get some rest, okay?" The dark magenta mare muttered, "I'll be back in a bit to check on you."

"Okay. Thanks, Tempest." Twilight smiled sleepily. She turned back around and tried to go to sleep.

She didn't hear Tempest walk away at first, which made Twilight a little uncomfortable. When she finally heard hoofsteps leave the room and her bedroom door softly click, Twilight opened her eyes again.

Why did she leave so late? Twilight wondered. Was she... staring at me?!

Twilight felt weirded out, but at the same time her cheeks felt red.

That doesn't matter now. Twilight concurred. What matters now is getting this all figured out.

Twilight got out of her bed and headed back to her desk, grabbing a piece of scroll paper and a quill from her supplies case. Despite her tiredness, her mind was racing too fast for her to fall asleep.

My train for Canterlot leaves at midnight tonight, so I have to figure this out.
