She had a free period before lunch on Tuesday, A.J decided that a walk around the grounds would help clear her head.

Meanwhile standing beside the lake was Fred, Angelina, and Alicia Spinet. He was standing rather close to Alicia like he was whispering, and they were both laughing in response.

A.J stopped dead. She didn't hear the footsteps approaching from behind her, as she was stuck staring at the scene. It wasn't until the person spoke that she was able to focus on anything else.

"You know he's only doing it to make you jealous." George explained with a sympathetic sigh.

She said quietly. "I didn't know he liked her."

"No, he doesn't." He shook his head quickly. "They aren't together."

A.J snapped her head away from them to glare at George in shock. "He's just using her?"

George shrugged.

A.J's anger shot up ten notches.

"So, you do want him back, don't you?" He nudged her playfully.

"You've got to be kidding." She hissed.

George finally noticing how dark her mood was, took a step back.

"He's deliberately trying to hurt me, and worse he's using someone else while he's at it. What a prat."

A.J turned on the spot and headed back towards the castle, leaving George staring after her. He stood for a moment, thinking, then he decided A.J was right, his brother was being a prat.

A.J climbed the stairs in the Entrance Hall, and several more staircases until she reached the seventh-floor corridor.

She waved her wand and pushed aside a painting of several men trying to tame a dragon.

She continued along another short and empty hallway, and up a small flight of stairs. Up here through one last door was a small circular office she had been using this year.

There were empty bookcases curved around one third of the walls, and beside a wide window stood a large wooden desk. A round table sat in front of the bookshelves with three large chintz chairs. There was another smaller sized desk just to the left of the door, A.J walked over to it as she entered, checking the Wolfsbane potion she was brewing there.

She continued on to the larger desk, she picked up a book as she passed to sit on the large windowsill that looked out over part of the lake.

After a few minutes of trying to read with blurry vision, she quietly shut the book and let the tears fall silently.

** A.J's POV**

I stayed in the office another hour, then it was time for fifth and sixth period Transfiguration.

George must have mentioned how mad I was because Fred avoided me all of Wednesday. It wasn't until Thursday at breakfast when he had accidently sat opposite and two seats down from me in the Great Hall, that we made eye contact.

He at least looked sheepish. I turned away and immediately saw Simon from the Ravenclaw table waving me over. I nodded in acknowledgement and grabbed my bag, turning to walk to the top of the Gryffindor table, in front of the teacher's desk and back down between the Hufflepuff and Ravenclaw table to sit beside Simon.

I turned my attention to Simon as we went over our duties for the rest of the week. I always insisted that we got to monitor near our own common rooms, Simon agreed that made sense. We rotated and split the Hufflepuff and Slytherin areas between us.

"A.J!" George called.

I swivelled to face him, he was standing right behind me with Fred.

"You forgot this." He held out a piece of folded parchment.

I looked to Fred and back uncertain.

"I don't think she trusts us, Fred." George said to his twin.

Fred smiled encouragingly at me.

"Can you blame me?" I rolled my eyes.

I took the parchment and stuffed it in my pocket. I turned back to Simon, as they walked off.

"Have you started that Potions essay yet?" Simon asked as we finished discussing our duties.

I placed my elbow on the table and rested my head in my hand.

"Yeah sort of. Flipping long though isn't it?" I groaned.

"Want me to add an extra few inches Miss Ryan?" A drawling voice came from behind us.

Simon's face went pale. I just turned my eyes lazily to face the voice.

Yes Professor? I thought.

He sneered. "Professor McGonagall would like to see you in her office." when I didn't rush to get up Professor Snape added; "Immediately."

He turned and glided away.

It wasn't until I arrived in charms class fifteen minutes late, that I got to look at the piece of parchment George handed me earlier. I had sat near the back, by myself. Fred had glanced at me when I walked past his and George's desk. They were two rows ahead of me, on the right.

Fifth period. Wheezes bathroom.

First two periods today were charms, and then I had advanced arithmancy studies the period before and after lunch. My fifth and sixth periods were free. Although charms would be Fred's only class today.

I put the note back in my pocket and focused in on what Professor Flitwick was saying.
