Sapphire.

Hi.
My name is Sapphire Heart. I'm fifteen years old. I live with my mother in Jericho, New York. We just moved here here about a month ago from Washington D.C. My mother is a very successful businesswoman. She recently got an opportunity in N.Y.C that she just could not pass up. Hence the move.

At first I wasn't happy about the move. Now don't get me wrong I was and still am excited for my mother. It's just hard making genuine friends as a 'rich kid' as I'm usually referred to as. Luckily I made friends with my neighbor and she introduced me to all of her friends. I was happy to know that not all of her friends are rich. Sometimes 'rich kids' could be stuck up.

"Hey Em." I greet my neighbor/ new bestfriend, as I hop into the front seat of her new, black jeep and pull the seatbelt over me.

"Hey." She says back. Emma begin a year older than me received this jeep as a present for her sixteenth birthday two months ago, before I moved out here.

We sped out of our neighborhood toward the nearest Starbucks while I turned up the volume on the radio and sang along loudly to the music. Emma glanced at me and shook her head but she did join me, both of us singing horribly. Well it was actually more like shouting.
Emma pulls into the Starbucks parking lot and finds an empty parking space. Once she turns the car off we hop out. The cool summer air hits my skin making me smile. Yesterday I almost boiled to death in the summer heat. Em and I enter the coffee shop/ restuarant to find it empty except for two workers, a family of three and two boys near the window

Grover.

I met Percy at a Starbucks in Jericho, just to catch up a bit. Percy is on his way to Camp Half Blood and I'm heading into Manhattan, this just happens to be where we cross paths.
Not even twenty minutes after we sat down I catch a scent stronger than any demigod I've ever crossed paths with, including Percy and all the other big three children.

'What's wrong?" Percy asks. "What do you smell?" I must have been making a face. "Monsters?"
"No-no." I shake my head fast. "A demigod. A really powerful one or maybe it's two."

Percy and I start looking around until I spot two girls at the counter, ordering something. It must be them. They are the only new people inside here. "I'll be right back." I tell Percy and walk over to the counter.

"Excuse me, can I have a straw please, I dropped mine." I gave an embarrassed smile.
"Sure." The cashier smiles and hands me a straw. I take a deep breath and smile back while taking the straw.
"Thank you." I head back over to Percy. "Its the blonde one.' I tell him.
"What about the brunette?" He asks.
"She's mortal." I say causing Percy to frown.
"Are you sure?" His frown deepens. I only nod.

Percy looks over at the girls and I follow his gaze, the blonde girl is looking right back at us. I turn back to Percy as he speaks. "So how do we get her to Camp?"
I shrug. "I don't know Perce."

Sapphire.

I catch the green eyed boy looking at me again, his face contorted into a worried expression which does not help the uneasy feeling I have. He says something to the other boy, the one that came to the counter for a straw, then seems to notice that I can see him staring at me. Once he looks away I frown. Why do I feel like I should know that guy? I'm certain that I don't know him. He looks older than me and I've never lived anywhere besides Washington until now, so we couldn't have been in the same class nor school ever. But why do I feel like I've met him before?
"I'll be right back Em." I say but don't really pay attention to her response.

I make my way over to the boys are still  talking to each other.
"-here." The green eyed boy with black sea swept hair was saying to the other boy, his eyes are brown.
"Hi." I say not really sure where to go from there. The boys exchange looks then turn to me.
"Uhm, hi." The black haired boy who's eyes are actually sea-green respond awkwardly and uncertainly.
I start to fiddle with the ring my mom gave me for my twelfth birthday as I've grown to do habitually. "You guys might think I'm crazy but I get the feeling that I should know you." I manage to get out.
"I'm pretty sure I've never met you before." Sea-green eyes says frowning slightly.
"Same here." Brown eyes says.
"I... yeah, you're probably right." I mentally scowl myself for walking up to, two strangers. 'Sorry for bothering you." I start to walk away.

"Hey wait." The black haired boy says. "I'm Percy and this is my friend Grover." He gestures to the brown eyed boy with a rasta cap on his head.
Grover, who is chewing his straw appears to be at least seventeen and Percy, who's hand is outstretched to me, appears to be the same age.
Against my better judgment I take his hand in my own and shake it. "I'm Sapphire."

"Hey Saph." Emma comes over holding two iced mocha lattes. "Are these your friends?"

"Uhm.." I take one of the drinks from her hand unsure of what to say.
Percy seems to sense my dilemma  and cuts in. "We actually just met, I'm Percy."

Emma and Grover were both about to speak when something came crashing in though the glass doors.

Now before I continue I think it's only fair warn you that from here on out things get weird.

Like really weird.
