Sapphire.
I can't believe my eyes. A group of men with dog headed masks on, come crashing the glass doors and immediately form a wide semicircle, cornering us.
"Cynocephali." Both Grover and Percy mutter.
"Cyno-what?" I ask stunned and confused.
"How did I not smell them?" Grover asks in the same manner, totally ignoring me.
"Probably because of her scent." Percy points to me.
Alarmed I say, 'My... whoa, whoa, whoa. Hold on." I make the time out gestures with my hands. "Time out.""Oh don't worry, you'll have plenty of time in the underworld." One of the men finally speaks and with difficulty. I realize that they aren't wearing masks. The dog heads are their real heads.
"What the.." my words die in my throat. Standing before me with murderous looks in their eyes are creatures straight out of the myths.
Before my mind could even process what I'm seeing, I notice a flash, like light reflecting off of metal. Percy puts himself between the rest of us and the monsters. "Stay behind me." In his hand is a real, bronze sword."Whoa, what the hell is going on?" Emma seems to just come out of shock. "Where did you get that gun?" She asks Percy.
"What gun? That's a sword." I'm beyond confused.
"She can't see though mist." Grover says.
'The what?" I ask. That's when I notice that Percy and the monsters are talking."It must be our lucky day." One of the creatures says. "Two of the most powerful demigod and a satyr."
"Demi-what?" I ask. I'm not sure how much more of this I can take.
"We'll explain later." Grover tells me."I hate to break it to you, but seven is an unlucky number in Chinese history." Percy says, he then attacks the nearest of the creatures.
After that, its chaos. The first monster is killed by Percy's sword, or at least I think it's dead. Once his sword slashed through it, the monster explodes into golden dust. The next six dog-headed men aren't happy about that. Two of them attack Percy at once but he seems to be just fine dodging and slashing with his sword when he could get some damage done. The other four creatures, I think they called them Cynocephali, came at Grover, Emma and I. Grover took out Reed pipes and began playing a tune. It isn't very good but vines shoot out of the floor leaving cracks behind, the vines tangled themselves around two of the Cynocephali. The creatures struggled but Grover starts playing the tune faster and the vines respond, wrapping themselves around faster and tighter. Soon the only sign that the monsters are still alive is the thrashing heaps of vines on the floor. Before long the thrashing stops.
Emma is still standing there frozen in shock, she hadn't been back to normal for long. On the other hand the two Cynocephali don't seem to care that she is in shock, they come at us snarling and growling. I see claws coming my way and I grab a nearby chair, swinging it at the monster like a bat. On impact the chair shatters but it had done its job. The monster flies backward into the one Percy was fighting with and he takes that chance to send his sword through both of them at once. The last of the dog-headed men didn't last very long after that, I did a spin kick that I never knew I could do and sent it straight onto Percy's sword.Out of breath I ask. "What the hell just happened?"
Percy.
After Sapphire sent the last Cynocephali onto my sword, I stare at her while I catch my breath. That was impressive.
"What the hell just happened?" She asked clearly out of breath.
'Maybe we should get out of here first." I say scanning my surroundings. Somehow in all the chaos I hadn't noticed the family that was in here had left, but their car is gone. I didn't see what happened to the cashier but I hope she left.
