*•.* [chapter eighteen]

SAVANNAH WAS WORRIED THAT the battered old car Steve had found wouldn't get them to the airport safely when she should've been worried about Sam and Bucky's incessant bickering. It had halted after they'd met with Sharon Carter, everyone happy to have their gear in their possession once more.

She couldn't help but throw herself from the backseat of the tiny car when they'd finally parked in the Leipzig airport. Wanda and Clint exited the large white van when they saw them.

She hugged Clint and then Wanda, studying the girl's strained expression. "Is Pietro—"

"I left him at the compound," the Maximoff muttered. "He wasn't happy to see me go, I wasn't happy to see him stay."

Savannah nodded in understanding despite how complicated it all was. She moved to her position on Steve's right.

"Cap," Clint greeted, shaking the soldier's hand.

Steve watched him. "You know I wouldn't have called if I had any other choice."

"Hey man," Clint said shrugging. "You're doing me a favor. Besides, I owe a debt." He looked at Wanda and then Savannah when he said it.

Steve looked at Wanda too. "Thanks for having my back."

"It was time to get off my ass," the brunette said taking a few steps closer.

"How about our other recruit?" Steve asked.

Clint turned, heading to the backseat of the van. "He's rarin' to go. Had to put a little coffee in him, but... he should be good." He pulled in the door, the noise echoing throughout the parking garage. An unconscious man was revealed but he startled awake at the noise.

The man squinted at the sunlight as he stumbled from the vehicle. "What timezone is this?"

Clint patted his shoulder when he looked to the Avengers in attendance. "Come on. Come on."

The man's, Scott Lang, eyes fell on Steve and remained glued there. He took Cap's hand in his own, shaking it vigorously, an amazed smile on his face. "Captain America."

Steve regarded him. "Mr. Lang."

"It's an honor." He continued shaking his hand, before saying, "I'm shaking your hand too long," and stopping. "Wow. This is awesome. Captain America." He murmured, pointing at the man.

Savannah nodded, humor in her eyes, catching his attention. "I know you, too. You're great. My daughter loves you," he said to her. He looked at Wanda. "You too." He reached up to Steve's shoulders, feeling the muscles there for a second. "Jeez. Look, I wanna say, I know you know a lot of super people, so thinks for thanking of me."

Savannah bit her lip to keep her laughter at bay especially when he looked to Sam saying, "Hey, man."

She hadn't understood what happened between them but from the look of it, Sam was embarrassed, but he smirked anyway. He crossed his arms over his chest. "What's up, Tic Tac?"

Scott's look was apologetic. "Uh, good to see you. Look, what happened last time when I—"

"It was a great audition," Sam interrupted, "but it'll never happen again."

Savannah studied Scott's confused look, deciding that she had to find out how the two men met eventually.

Steve and Scott spoke for a while longer then Bucky's quiet voice came. "We should get going."

A loud blaring began to echo throughout the airport, followed bye a message Savannah couldn't understand.

"They're evacuating the airport," Bucky said, translating for them.
