*•.*[chapter twenty-six]

"THANOS DOESN'T HAVE THE SOUL STONE," Savannah murmured, studying the floor of the spaceship, her eyes were unseeing. "Not yet anyway." She would know otherwise.

"That's good," Tony said a few feet away. She blinked up at him.

Strange's voice was uncertain. "I think we're here."

"I don't think this rig has a self-park function," Tony let out, his voice growing in urgency as he moved to the ship's steering handles. They were too far apart for any one of them to maneuver alone. Stark looked to Peter. "Get your hand into this steering gimbal. Close those around it. You understand?"

The boy slid his arm into the device. "Yep, got it."

Savannah watched as the ground quickly approached. She moved forward and so did Dr. Strange. They stood on the platform, growing increasingly unnerved by their chances of not dying in this damned ship.

Tony was nearly shouting. "This was meant for one big guy, so we gotta to move at the same time."

"Okay. Okay. Ready." They watched as they headed
straight for a large metal structure.

Savannah's hands began to glow. "Um, guys—"

Peter's terrified voice interrupted her. "We might wanna turn. Turn! Turn! Turn."

The ship skimmed the structure and parts of the spacecraft fell away. Savannah through up a wide shield, encasing them inside it. Strange's copper shield's reinforced her's as they hit the ground. Savannah felt herself wobble.

When the dust had settled, she could see the men had fallen in their descent. She stretched out a hand to the doctor and he gratefully took it. There were scars on his hands, but Savannah didn't stare but she did wonder.

The man went to Stark asking, "You alright?"

"That was close. I owe you one," Tony said, shaking the man's hand. The former looked at her, and noted the face she was making. "Savannah, as always, great work."

She shrugged, nonchalant.

Peter suddenly descended from the ceiling, hanging upside down on his web. "Let me just say, if aliens wind up implanting eggs in my chest or something, and I eat one of you, I'm sorry"

"That wouldn't happen anyway, Peter," Sav shot down. "You'd just be dead by then." The boy gave her a horrified look.

Savannah felt a prickle in her senses.

Tony angrily pointed a finger at the kid. "I don't wanna hear another single pop culture out of you for the rest of the trip. You understand?"

"I'm trying to say that... something is coming."

And just then, a grenade rolled onto the platform where they stood. For a split second no one moved then, with a blast, it sent them all flying backward.

Savannah caught herself on a protruding piece of metal and slid to the ground. She saw three figures enter the ship from where she sat, and they immediately began their attack.

Savannah saw the masked man fighting Tony, but it was quickly ended when the former used a device to trap her friend against the wall.

She shot a blast of energy at the masked man, skimming his shoulder. He shot back at her, his blaster bright with power.

She neatly dodged it and, using her powers, pushed herself into the air and hovered there. He continued to shoot at her, but with a shield, she was able to get close to him. She sent a fist into his chest, throwing energy behind it. With a gasping exclamation, the man flew backward.
