[chapter five]"I JUST NEED A LITTLE," Savannah whispered to Bruce. He looked at her for a moment, before holding out his hand. Sav gave him a look of thanks before grabbing his arm and pulling at his energy, but not too much. She didn't want him to pass out especially if they had to call a code green. A blue glow emitted from their connected hands, before she let go. She let it seep through her muscles waiting for the discomfort to subside. Savannah sighed. "Thank you."
She looked at him, checking for any sign of fatigue, but there were none. He waved her off, and she slid back in her chair. The jet was quiet as they approached the salvage yard. Steve had briefed them, saying she was to stay a little ways behind him, Thor and Tony, waiting for her a signal.
It didn't take them long to find Ultron in the rusted shipyard. Ultron stood visibly taller, no longer just a mass of wires and mangled metal. He was speaking with two figures, she remembered Pietro. The brunette was definitely his sister, Savannah had seen her in a file. She was surprised to see them with the evil bot, no matter if they hated the Avengers or not.
Aiding someone in ending the only world they knew was foolish. Even if they were promised something in the end, how could they trust someone capable of doing what Ultron planned to do?
Unless, the twins didn't know. Savannah found herself hoping that that was the case.
"Stark is—he's a sickness," Ultron let out as, Tony, Thor, and Cap approached him. Savannah stood behind, hardly visible. Ultron's words sounded very accusing for something who wanted to make all humans extinct, on a greater scale than sickness ever could.
Savannah could feel multiple unfamiliar essences on the ship. "Ahh, Junior. You're gonna break your old man's heart," Tony voiced sarcastically.
Ultron turned surveying the people before him. "If I have to."
Savannah could feel Pietro's eyes find her in the darkness, and she could feel the utter power in the energy radiating off of him. Something about it made her feel sick—taking his energy felt wrong when she was faced with the real possibility of doing so.
"We don't have to break anything," Thor said, raising his hands to signify peace. It seemed, though, that Ultron was well beyond peace.
Ultron tilted his head, his red eyes glowing menacingly. "Clearly you've never made an omelet." That sounded like a joke Tony'd try to crack.
Tony's eyes darted in slight annoyance, and humor. "He beat me by one second."
"Ah, this is funny, Mr. Stark. It's what, comfortable? Like old times?" Pietro stepped forward, glancing at a few missiles. It has to be a vendetta, Savannah thought.
"This was never my life." Tony's voice sounded grave, all signs of joking gone.
Savannah stepped closer to Thor's side. "Did he tell you his full plan or only what you wanted to hear?" She asked, addressing the twins, who's eyes both flashed with doubt, but it was gone as soon as it'd come. That alone gave Sav the answer she was looking for. And Ultron, he looked just about ready to shoot her down.
"You two can still walk away from this," Steve added.
Wanda stepped forward. "Oh, we will." She said it as if she were speaking with a child, her lips forming a small pout.
Steve seemed to be ready to go into speech mode. "I know you've suffered—"
Ultron groaned, interrupting him. "Captain America. God's righteous man, pretending you could live without a war. I can't physically throw up in my mouth, but," he paused, red eyes zeroing in on Savannah's figure. "And you, Vitality, a parasite that can't seem to stay dead. You have so much power but too much fear."
