So close yet so far
I don't know what to sayDifferent paths, Different minds
All secretly the same.
I don't even know your name
Yet you draw out my biggest smiles. When night comes in and settles
The silence is overwhelming.
I feel like I'm in space.
Floating aimlessly, not breathing
The tank's broken and my crew is gone
Yet you're still there.Ground control. You keep me sane
You keep me from drifting away.
Black holes surround me
Yet you somehow tether me with assurance.I believe. I believe everything you say.
Perhaps that's naive.
In my experience I'd say it is,
yet I can't turn away. Its dejavu everytime we speak.
You're there to give me clarity
Even when I'm weak.
I live every day with trepidation
Fearing everything and everyone
But when I recieve your message
I get the strength to run.Just what are you injecting
Into each nightly exchange
Affection, trust?
You give me that push I need to change.
I can't think of any one better
Of anyone else to entrust with that task. That's why I reach out.
I tug on that lifeline
To let you know I'm sinking.
To tell you I can't breath.
I just close my eyes and imagine
Your hand reaching out to me.
Pulling me up and out of murky waters
Onto steady dry land.Like a bicycle pump
You breath into my lungs
You help them expand
You urge them to function
While the world covers my face
With a mask of toxicity and bigotry
You're there, reminding me that the world isn't rotten. And you're right. It can't be, because you're in it...
