[C] Don’t. Don’t do this to me, please.”

[CI] “Why not? You want to, don’t you?”

(Scoff)

[C] “Nonsense.”

[CI] “Stop. Don’t turn away. Don’t shut the door on me. Not again.”

[C] “Please. Just let me be. Let me go to sleep without consequence. Don’t cause me any more grief.”

[CI] “I can see the way you look at me. When we fight, when we laugh. There's desire in your eyes, longing in your heart. You know they say your pupils dilate when you're looking at someone you love?"

[C] "I don't love you.

[Ci] "You hesitated.

[C] "I didn't!"

[Ci] "Why won’t you look at me then? Why are you still standing here?”

[C] “Step back, please. You make me nervous.”

[CI] “If you really want me to…then push me away. Use all your strength and I won’t bother you further. Hurt me. Bruise me like I bruised your heart.”

[C] “Don’t be ridiculous. I’m not going to—”

[CI] “Don’t pull away. Feel the way my heartbeats against your palm.”

(Quiver)

[C] “We don’t have anything in common, all we do is fight!”

[CI]" Nothing in common? Our two beautiful children. IS that not enough for you? We share more than just blood. We share an affinity for music, movies...art.”

[C] “Eddy, I…”

[CI] “Don’t speak. Just one kiss. That’s all I ask. You always believed you could feel a connection if love were true. Just a peck on the lips…that’s all.”

[C] “But I…”

[CI] “For once in your life Nathan…let someone take care of you.”

[C] “ You called me by my preferred name. Why? What do you hope to gain?”

[CI] “A moment, with you…”

That kiss. I’m done for.
Your lips, I want more now.
Just look what you’ve done.

One kiss turned into two, then tree.
Now we're nothing but a mass of tangled limbs between the sheets.

Our heavy breaths are stifled by the music that once played at our wedding…nearly a decade ago.

This mattress, it’s loud. It gives away to our movements.
I’m grateful for the darkness
For your heat beneath these covers.

You’ve gotten…taller. Stronger.
Just when did that happen?
Were we apart for so long?
Two years, an eternity. That’s what every night has felt like.

Now you’re here. I can breathe again.
I’m not sure I want to. With every breath it comes. The possibility of pain and anguish.
Then you do this. You hold me so tight.
Even if I wanted to wiggle free I know it’s futile.

It’s hot. My glasses are fogged. Maybe I can take ‘em off for just a second. You laugh, I follow. You wear them now too. I forgot how calloused your fingers were. They feel good, so addicting. Now I want more.
Look what you’ve done.
I’ve gone and fallen again.

I want to believe it’s real, and not just a side-effect of the wine we shared. 36 questions. I didn’t get to answer one. You knew all the answers. You’ve always seen through me. And now that you’ve lured me…I am once again caught.

Caught in the infectious taste of your tongue.
Caught with my trousers around my ankles.
My mouth full of questions, queries and…you.
What will I do now?
Once this passion filled night breaks?

Will I be able to pretend you’re just my friend, an ex?
No. I can’t anymore. It was so hard the first time. I don’t have that strength anymore…

[CI] “You kept it…our wedding ring…”

“I couldn’t bring myself to throw it away.”

[CI] “I still carry mine. It’s on my keychain.”

[C] "You’r full of it.”

[CI] “Am I?”

[C]“Hold me.”

[CI] “I am.”

[C] “Forever?”

[CI] “Of course.”

[C] “In sickness?”

[CI] “And health.”

[C] “For rich?”

[CI] “And for poor.”

[C] “I don’t know if I can trust you.”

[CI] “You did years ago.”

[C] “But things have changed.”

[CI]“Have they?”

[C] “I…have changed.”

[CI] “I know. That’s why I’m here, to accept every part of you. To let you be…you.”

 (Sigh)

[C] “Don’t say such things to me. You know I’ll easily believe them.”

[CI] “Good. Because I’m here to stay.”

That wine. It was bitter, potent. Now we’re swirling, twirling. I can feel your hands exploring. I want them to. I want to feel you too.
You're so soft. It's like you never left. Your freckles, like braille are engraved in my mind. I don't need glasses to see you. I never did.

Memories repeat behind my lids as I bite my kiss swollen lips. I can feel you tugging my hair. It's been so long. It kind of hurts. Still, I don’t want you to stop. I want us to meld into each other until day breaks. Until I'm out of breath and stamina..

I need you…I miss you. I love you.

[Ci] “Marry me.”

[C] “I already did. We never pushed the paperwork through.”

[Ci] “I know, but I want you to say I do, here and now.”

[C] “What would that prove?”

[Ci] “That I only belong…to you.”

You're  right. It's always been you. It will always be you. I've known from the second our eyes met at that counter. The second our lips grazed in my car. Since the moment you so shakily told me that you were screwed. That you were falling for me.

I fell for you too.

[Ci] "Nathan, I want you to be the person you want to be. I want you to smile, to laugh. I wanna hold you when you inevitably fall, or get hurt again. I want to be there when your panic sets in."

[C] "Eddy...stop. Don't promise what you can't keep."

[Ci] "I was young. Dumb. Scared. But now I know, now I see...
[Ci] I see the treasure that lies before me and I'm never letting go."
