"Wake up James, its 7:00, you're gonna be late for your date." Holy shit! I think that was the fastest I'd gotten out of bed, well couch, ever. I picked up my phone to look at the time and ofcourse it was only 4. "Woah, someone's excited." My dad has found every opportunity to freak me out for this date. At this point I just wanted to get it over with.

"You're an asshole." I picked up the closest item and threw it at him. With my luck, it would be a pillow. "I still had half an hour to sleep, what the hell."

"Well now you have more time to get ready. Your welcome." He took his cereal and went up the stairs. I had almost forgotten that today even happened. It didn't feel real, I pretty much thought it was a dream until I saw the condom on the floor. Shit, I hope my dad didn't see it. I picked it up from the floor and threw it in the trash. Definetly wasn't going to use it that night.

Derek had called me while I was asleep and then left a text. Can't wait to see you tonight, I'll be picking you up around 7 so if you can text me your address whenever.

I never thought that I would struggle to pick an outfit, ever. I didn't have a clue whether to dress up or dress casually. Looking at Derek, you would assume that he's the cliche romantic type. With that, I knew he was taking me out to eat. I didn't want to show my excitement towards the date so I chose to wear my jeans and a cardigan. Even that was more dressed up than I planned. I considered wearing a hoodie but I didn't want Derek to feel like this wasn't important. I straightened my hair which usually takes me awhile. It was a great time killer that by the time I finished it was nearly 6. Makeup wise, I kept it simple; Eyeliner, mascara, and chapstick. Time was taking its sweet time, which was useful for me. I made a quick meal for my dad because God help him the day he has to make his own food. That man can't even make scrambled eggs for all I know.

Speaking of the devil, I hear his footsteps coming down the stairs. "Do you always get out of your room when you smell food?" I heard him chuckle behind me before taking a seat by the table.

"You look beautiful Jamie." My dad always made sure to remind me how beautiful I was to him but this time it was different.

"It's nothing special, I'll be back early. I can't tell you an exact time because I don't even know where he's taking me but I'll be sure to call you." I gave him a reassuring smile and left his food in the microwave. Just as my dad was about to make a smart comment, we heard the door bell ring. I'd be lying if I said my heart didn't drop. The familiar butterfly feeling came back and my dad noticed it. Part of me was scared that it was Andy coming back to torment me and before I could run to the door to make sure, my dad was already half way there.

"So you must be my holy savior!" Oh my God.. I didn't even bother going to the door, my dad has already embarrassed me and I haven't even seen Derek yet. I heard his voice through the hallway.

"Hello sir, I'm Derek Andrews."

"Call me Erick. Come in, Jamie's just about ready." I heard them walking in the hallway and I quickly turned around and pretended to be occupied. "James, you're date's here." He was definitely enjoying this. I turned around and to my suprise Derek was dressed just as casual as I was. He wore jeans and a blue pull over. The blue from his sweater matched perfectly with his eyes and I caught myself staring at him.

"Uhh, you ready?" I could tell he was just as nervous as I was, and having a man such as my dad next to him, he was terrified.

"Uh, yep.. Dad, remember if you get hungry, I left the food in the microwave. And call me if anything, we won't be late?" I looked to Derek for reassurance on the time that we'd be home and luckily he answered.

"Yes ofcourse, I'll have her back by 10." There was his beautiful smile. I walked over to him as my dad trailed behind us to close the door. Thankfully, he didn't have anything embarassing to say. He just waved goodbye and waited until we got in Derek's car. Derek being Derek, and possibly a kiss ass, he opened my door for me. My dad finally went inside the house and Derek was in the car. As soon as he turned the car on, a familiar tune was playing. It can't be.

"Oh my God!!!" My eyes widened as Derek's face was flushed as he struggled and nervously tried to stop the music. I grabbed a hold of his hands and our eyes immediately connected. "No, leave it." I shot him a victory smile and turned up the volume. Night Changes by none other than One Direction filled the car. "What made you change your mind?"

Derek took a deep sigh, "You told me to give them a chance, so.. I did. I went this morning to buy their album & I only got to this track. So far though, this one happens to be my favorite. I told you that I wanted to get to know you, and if they are a part of your life, I want to know who I'm competing with." I could't help but smile like a small child receiving candy. This small gesture meant the world to me. I grabbed his hands again and mouthed the words thank you. I leaned back into the seat as he pulled the car out of the drive way. My dad must of wondered why we were still there. I still didn't know where he was taking me but I didn't care. I was so into the ride and song to pay attention. When I looked over at Derek, he was singing the lyrics to the song. You could easily tell he only got to this one because he was too busy replaying it. I joined him at the chorus and our voices were so bad compared to the boys. I was happy to be in the car with Derek as the next few songs played. He judged them honestly and even admitted to liking them.

A few minutes later, we pulled up to the last place I thought he'd take me on a first date.
