I didn't bother rushing back to class. One tardy wouldn't kill me and I really wasn't feeling having to struggle lifting these jeans back on after class. I wanted to find Derek and put him in his place for leaving me this morning but I had no idea what class he had. Instead, I sighed in defeat and walked to gym.

"Miss Miles, this is your first tardy in my class. I suppose there was a logical reason as to why?"

"I wasn't feeling well coach, puking all over the place and what not."

"Alright, alright. Sit out."

It was a perk having a close relationship with the coach. She has been like a mother to be since freshman year. Coach J may be in her fifties but that woman has the spirit and life of a twenty- something year old. At one point, I even tried to hook her and my dad up, until I found out she was married and had two sons. She's too woman for my dad to handle anyways.

Not that I hate Coach J's class, but I was glad it was over. Luckily, I only had two classes after lunch and then call it a day. I made it to chemistry pretty early, but that's because I didn't have to waste time changing after gym. Derek made it in a minute later.

"You left a little something in my car." I pulled out Derek's wallet and handed it over. His expression clearly showed that he had no idea that he had left it in my car.

"Shit. Oh my God, thank you!" Derek opened his wallet as to check if I stole his cash or something.

"I didn't steal anything if that's what you're wondering." I was offended, but then he not only searched his wallet, but searched his book bag and pockets.

"No no. I know you didn't. It's my necklace. I usually keep it in my wallet when I take it off but it's not in here. It must have fallen out in your car."

"Is it important?"

"Well, I've had it since I was born. It's kind of my lucky charm." I strangely found the idea of Derek having a good luck charm adorable. I could feel sympathetic towards that.

"Don't worry about it, it's most likely in my car. I'll find it after school."

The bell rang and in came Mrs. Keller with a box of ice cream sandwiches. It must have been because her ac broke down and it felt as if we were in an oven.

She told us that we had to continue yesterday's lesson which no one was looking forward to. The heat was so bad, the whole class period dragged on. I was disgustingly red and sweaty, and wanted to run away crying because of my small jeans that were most likely stopping my blood circulation.

As soon as the bell rang, I left the room as quickly as possible. I didn't even bother waiting for Derek. Instead I ran to my gym locker and changed into my basketball shorts. My legs have never felt so free! I collected my things and made my way to my car where I spotted Derek waiting.

"Hey, did you find it?" I unlocked my car and sat down turning the ac down to the lowest temperature.

"Um, not from outside your window. And I'm sorry about this morning. I figured you had a rough night and what's better than a three day weekend?"

As Derek searched for his necklace, I picked up on what he said. Three day weekend.

"Wait, today's Friday?" Kayla's double date popped up. I looked at my phone and saw that it was in fact Friday. Shit.

"Yea, thank God. And what's so important about today? By the way, I love that t-shirt on you" he said with a sly smile.

"I told Kayla that I would go on a double date with her and Hayden. And I had nothing else to wear, I'm sorry. I will wash it and give it back." I looked away in embarrassment as I remembered I still his shirt on.

"Double?"

"Yea, I asked Victor to come with me." Derek got up from searching for his necklace and stood quiet for a good minute. I wanted to ask him what his problem was, but decided to drop it because the heat was getting to my head.

"Sounds cool," he said quickly," but hey I have to run. I couldn't find it so I assume it's in mine. I will talk to you later." And with that, he was gone.
