Chapter 23 - The Night After

// A bit of a sad chapter...

Raven's POV

It was the night after I turned my mate into a beautiful vampire. She did resist me for little while, but she quickly gave in. The transformation went much smoother than I thought it would...

"I know you are thinking about me, my Queen. You are staring at me way too much and it is starting to creep me out a little." my mate told me before I frowned at her. She had her arms crossed, her gorgeous pale skin was lightly glowing as she was standing in the full moonlight next to the large window. I could tell something was wrong just by her sad eyes.

"Are you still happy with me?" I asked her, which made her turn to look at me. "Why would you say that? Of course I am." she replied before she walked to me and placed her lips against mine. No. Something was clearly wrong. It was obvious that she was pretending that everything's fine. I kissed her back before I watched her pull away. "Did you see Polly today?" I decided to ask her. 

My mate then let out a small sigh before she said, "Yes, I did. But, it was horrifying." Oh god...

"Sit down and tell me more." I told her gently, before I watched her do so. "When I went over to her bedroom, I saw that the door was opened a little. I peaked inside to find that Polly was...completely covered in blood. I didn't know what type of blood she was covered in but it smelt sweet and different." she began to tell me what happened until I realised what type of blood she was talking about. Human blood...

"When she knew I was looking at her, she offered me some. She was not herself at all. There was no body, but loads of blood bags. It was like she raided a fridge and took every blood bag in there upstairs to drink them all." she continued to tell me before I knew I had to speak to Patricia. "Have you seen Patricia in there with her?" I asked, watching my mate slowly shake her head as a no. Oh great...fucking fabulous...

Suddenly, there was a loud knock on the door before it opened to reveal a panicked Patricia. "M...My mate has gone crazy!" she told me as her whole body was lightly shaking. Then, I shortly heard some wild laughter coming up from the hallway. Shit. "Babe, please snap out of it. I got no idea what the hell is wrong with you but you are not right..." Patricia began to try and talk her dangerous mate until I stepped out of the room to quickly realise what Polly was going through. A blood lust. A very bad one...

She completely stank of strong human blood, making me want to vomit as I have never seen this happen before in my history of being a vampire. Her eyes were black for crying out loud! 

I quickly closed my bedroom door shut to protect my own mate. "I want to see my bestie. She hasn't drank human blood yet and I was only offering it to her before she ran away for some reason." Polly told us, "Yeah, because you are completely covered in it! Babe, what happened? I don't understand." Patricia said to her, making me look over to see that she was scared of Polly. 

I couldn't compel her anymore because it wouldn't work with her being in a blood lust. "Patricia, I am really sorry to say this to you but I think we need to let her go."

"What's going on with her, Raven?!"

"She is having a serious blood lust. I'm so sorry." 

"Why are you saying...no. Don't! Don't fucking kill her! She can be fixed!"

"She can't be fixed, she is too far in it. Say your goodbye." 

"No!" 

Fuck, this was too much for me to handle. I closed my eyes and heard some gasping until a few minutes later, I heard her drop to the ground. "NO! BABE! COME BACK!" Patricia screamed, alarming almost everyone in the mansion to come and see what was going on. She was only unconscious but not for long...

I'm sorry, Polly. This was a rare thing to happen to people who had been very recently turned. They become wild vampires and sadly, you were one of them.
