"Aaaaand it feels like winter again," Ari sighed. I personally sighed with relief,  because I did not like the hot version of December. However, it was not so much snowy in Halifax as it was slushy, which was kind of annoying.

"Welcome to Canada, my man!" I nudged him, appreciating being in my home country. Or, well, one of them at least.

"So, do you have any idea where to go?" Neil asked me, "Because I'm starving and I need to stretch my wings."

"Well, we could probably stop by a Tim Horton's or something," I offered, "But to just take a break, maybe we could spend the night at a hotel? We could have a cool lunch and dinner, and for desert or just because, we could go find that crazy candy store I've heard of! Oh, and we could go check out the waterfront, see what's over there with parks and stuff! Go for a harbor walk! We could go on a boat, and oh my stars, the Citadel! And the skating rink!"

"Chill, girl, one thing at a time," Raina urged me.

Ari perked up. "There's a skating rink?"

"Yeah! the Emera Oval! Why?"

"I... don't know."

"Hm."

"Well I personally want to go get some food first," River noted, "Which direction is the closest Tim Hortons?"

****~~~~****

"This stuff is so good," Neil noted, guzzling his limited-edition candy cane hot chocolate.

"I know right?" I agreed after swallowing a gulp of my tea.

"Forget the drinks, what about these donuts?!" Raina cried, "They call them Dream Donuts for a reason!"

"Everyone prepare for her sugar rush later," River warned us.

"How do you still have some of that coffee left?" I asked him, "Neil's practically done his and you barely started."

River just shrugged, sipping his coffee, then almost spitting it out. "Jeez that's hot! Augh!"

We all started laughing. "Apparently that's why."

"Whoa, what's that?" I asked, staring at the huge structure expanding over a flat hill as we turned a corner on our walk.

"I believe that's the Halifax Citadel," River told me.

"Not only does that look old and an epic story climax setting, but I feel like we should go in," I thought aloud.

"I mean, why not?" Neil agreed, "Might as well see the sights!"

"Personally I just want to find out the history about this," River told us.

"Well, we have some money left, if we need an admission, right?" Audra made sure. River nodded.

The Citadel was somehow both bigger than I thought but not big enough. It was surrounded by a stone wall that zig-zagged into a six-cornered star, but the entrance and exit on the flatter ends morphed it into eight points. In the middle there was a long building, probably only two or three stories. The whole thing was most just wide open space with people wandering around taking photos.

"Soooo..." I muttered.

"Maybe I could check the note--" River started.

"SHH!" Ari ordered, stepping ahead of us.

"What? Wh--"

"Seriously! Something's wrong," Ari hissed quietly. He took a couple of quiet steps forward, and I listened too.
