Zhongli X Reader (Fluff) cooking went wrong

"Y / N!" Amber almost bumped into you as she hurried. You looked at her and smiled. "Here's everything you need!"  A bright smile played on her face.  "Two raw meats and one ham, right?" She knew she had brought everything you asked for. "Exactly," you laughed.  "What do we need it for?  We'll cook for Paimon ?Paimon is hungry! " She said suddenly next to you. You completely forgot that Paimon was here with you." We'll cook, but not for you. "  You cut her off.  You had planned to make a special meal for Zhongli's special day, and you didn't want to let Paimon ruin it.  Zhongli has birthday today, but is on a trip to Dragonspine with Xinyan and Lumin until the evening.  That's actually why Paimon is here and with you.  Lumin didn't want to drag Paimon and listen to her in that cold.  So you offered to take care of Paimon, even though you immediately started to regret it.

You were on your way back to Liyue.  You were in Mondstadt just to deliver one rare package and also to visit your friends.  "We still have to stop for bamboo ..." You thought aloud ... "What exactly do you plan to cook?"  Paimon has been extremely annoying today, and she doesn't even talk as much as ever.  "Slow cooked bamboo shoot soup ..." You muttered and kept studying the map. "Woooah is that what it's called?"  Paimon almost yelled it in your ear.  You just sighed, put the map back in your pocket, and continued to walk silently.

Along the way, you came across a couple of Hilichurls campsites and one or two treasure hunters' campsites.  Nothing heavy.  You knew how to handle your Pyro vision very well, so it didn't bother you.  Normally you wouldn't notice them on your own, but they noticed you and just started attacking.  Sometimes you even felt sorry for them.

You wondered how Zhongli was doing now, and if he thought of you too.  You had to smile when you thought about the evening — when you see each other again.  You can't wait.

"So what will we do first? !!" Paimon was excited to be able to help as well. You didn't want her to help at fairst, but after her constant insistence, you let her go. "You can peel all the old parts of this" you  put the bamboo shoots on the table in your kitchen.  "But don't make a big mess ..." you really didn't want to clean up today.

After about three hours, you were finally done.  Even if it burned a little for a while, it smelled like it should.  You weren't going to taste it before Zhongli came back, after all, you were cooking mainly for him.  "Paimon wants to taste it!" Paimon shouts at the entire kitchen. Since it's not very big, everything is sprawling. You wanted to throw something at Paimon, which you did when she approached the pot of prepared food.

"I'm home ......" You heard Zhongli mumble at the door. "Ah hello Y / N! Thanks again for keeping Paimon here!"  Lumin thanked you.  Zhongli, meanwhile, put his arm around your shoulders as you said goodbye.  "No problem!" You smiled. "Yeah! It was fun! Even Y / N let Paimon help cook!"  Paimon smiled to herself.  Zhongli looked at you in surprise.  Lumin looked incredulous.  After talking for a while between the doors, you finally said goodbye, and while Lumin and Paimon were about to find Childe, you headed for the neatly prepared dining table.  You even prepared the candles you lit just before Zhongli came.

Before you left to get the food, Zhongli pulled you into an embrace and kissed you gently.  You returned the kiss and put your arms around his neck.  You stood there for a while.  "Happy birthday," you said before kissing him again. Zhongli deepened the kiss. You felt him smile. "Thank you," he whispered after you pulled away.

You served hot food on the table.  For Zhongli, his favorite and for you, you brought Almond Tofu, which you bought this morning.  "I wanted to surprise you somehow, after remembering that you like Slow cooked bamboo shoot soup, I decided to cook," you laughed. Zhongli gave you a small smile. "Uhm and I forgot," you ran for something into the cupboard in the kitchen.

You came back with a bottle of Dandelion wine.  You poured the wine into two glasses and placed the bottle on the floor next to the table.  You took your glass in your hand and wished him a happy birthday again before you tapped it.  When zhongli started eating you just watched his reaction.

But his reaction surprised you, he took a little ground for a while, but immediately tried to hide it.  "Is something wrong?" You asked confused. "N-no it's great ..." Zhongli took a few more spoons before just mixing the food, so you got up and walked over to him.  You took a spoon from his hand and tasted it.

You almost spat it out right away, it tasted awful.  Normally you don't like Bamboo Shoots soup, but this was a few times worse.  "I'm sorry ..." You looked sadly at the ground. You wanted to please Zhongli, and instead you ruined it all. Zhongli grabbed your hand with one hand and lifted your head with his other hand so that he could see into your eyes.  "Don't be sorry. You tried, Bamboo shoots soup is hard to make even for me. It's okay darling .." he stroked your cheek.  ,, B-but- ",, no but. I love you okay? And I really appreciate this, even though it's not perfect-" ,, it's not even good ... "You jumped into his speech. ,, even though  it's not perfect you still tried, and that's important. "  He softly kissed you an then gave you a warm hug.  You felt better after that.

God you are so lucky you found someone like him ... but next time you're not cooking.
