Midoriya's Scars

Chapter 7

Ok. Tomorrow's the day of the sports festival. I knock Scars off his feet. He laughs as he gets up. "You're going to sweep the competition, eyeball." I shake my head. "I'm really worried about Todoroki. If he's going to be using his Ice only, that's not good." Scars laughs. "You really want him to go all out? Even if it'll kill you?"

I punch him lightly. "No you asshole. Because you both have fire quirks. I can fight against fire quirks." I sigh and head back into NHL. I grab some water and listen to the chatter of a normal day. Noako sighs. "All right Deku." I look up. "The sports festival is tomorrow, so go rest up. That's an order from your boss." I laugh and salute.

"See ya at 9:00 for my shift old man!" I leave, ready to head home and sleep. The sports festival was important.

I stand in the middle of the stadium. It was loud. Too loud. I pull out a small fidget pad from my belt that I cleared to have in the festival. Midnight starts talking and she calls up Kacchan. He says some shit, but I'm not paying attention. Midnight explains that all eleven classes must race four kilometers around the outside of the festival stadium throughout an obstacle course. Students are permitted to use their as much as they like as long as they don't leave the course.

I chuckle at that. I don't have a quirk dumbass. We're taken to a large corridor and get ready to start. Everyone is crowded. To many people...It starts and I run, trying to get out. I feel cold as ice covers behind me. I see some of my classmates fly past. Robots up ahead. I grab my belt and pull out my a+ grade EMP. I throw it at the nearest robot, causing it and the surrounding robots to spasm and collapse.

I dash by and see the next trap. A pit with tightropes. I laugh and grab my staff from my belt and use it to balance myself. I see other students pass by in different ways. But soon, I reach the end, somewhat behind the others. If I can get up to first... Bombs. This one is bombs. I see some ice left by Todoroki and grab it, running straight into the mines. It blows up, propelling me forward past the others.

I cross the finish line second. Kacchan was first. As the other 40 students pass, Midnight explains the next round is a cavalry battle, where Kacchan has the most points. This meant...people. We have 15 minutes to form a team. I start to fidget. Uraraka came toward me. "Midoriya-kun! Want to team up?" I nod, before three other classmates come up, all girls from my class.

Tsuyu smiled. "May we join you, kero?" Momozuro and Jiirou were there too. I sigh before saying, "There is one thing you should know..." I say, checking my body for any open spots. "I-I, um, have haphephobia." Jiirou looked confused. "What's that?" I rub my arm. "It's a fear of being touched by anyone or thing unless I'm really close to that person. If-If you don't-" Momo smiled.

"It's fine, Midoriya-kun. We'll be careful not to make you uncomfortable. Now let's get going!" Midnight called us back together. We decided to have me on top since I was second and I had the best advantage with being quirkless. We start and Uraraka floats us up a few inches. Jiirou blasts music from my phone as Team Todoroki creates ice, canceling out the ice and knocking other competitors to the ground.

We get bands and I deflect an attack from a copycat, taking his band. Soon, everything's over. We got 3rd place, which was fine by me. Kacchan and Todoroki were going into the next round. I was ready to get ready.

Lunch happens. I'm eating in the locker room when I hear a cold voice. "Midoriya. I need to talk to you." I looked up at Todoroki and shrugged. We walk to an empty hallway and he looks at me. "You...Why are you here?" I look at him. "Excuse me?" He clenches his fist. "You can't be a hero. You're quirkless." I roll my eye. He continues. "I'm going to win this tournament. Someone like you shouldn't be here."

I keep silent. "I'm not using my fathers power for this. I'll beat you, and everyone else with only my mothers side. Show that bastard that I can be a hero without listening to him." I clench my fists. "Listen. There's a lot I don't like about this world. Endewhore being one of them. But if you think for a second I'm going to let some petty shit like a quirk keep me from beating you and everyone to the ground, you're wrong."

I turn to leave before stopping and saying, "You...you are lucky though. I hope you go full out on me, Todoroki."
