Part 23: The Interviewer
Around 7pm the doorbell rang. Me, Sian and Tanya were slouched down the sides of the settee, almost like we came as part of the sofa, so we were all reluctant to answer it. I arose to my feet and stumbled into the hallway opening the door, I was overpowered by hugs and the sound of cheering. It was the boys. Jay wrapped his arm round my shoulder and kissed me on the forehead, “y’alright Dais? How’s your day been?” He asked escorting me back into the living room followed by the 4 other boys. Out of the girls, I was the only one dressed out of my Pyjamas. Nathan went and sat on Sian who was practically dead on the sofa. “GET OFF” she yelled, the sound slightly muffled by Nathan’s body; they started play fighting. I watched as Tanya jumped up and ran up to Tom wrapping her arms around his neck, he hugged her back. She was wearing a bright pink leopard skin onesie.
I sat with Jay and he turned the television on, “PUT MTV ON,” Max yelled running in the room, “It’s about to start!” Jay switched the channel over, and the boys flashed up on screen.
“So Hello Boys” The interviewer said.
“HELLO” the boys said in unison on the telly, but they also said it whilst watching the television in stupid voices. We all laughed.
“It’s been too long,” The interviewer said, “It’s nice to see you”
“Not long enough, y’bitch” Max shouted at the TV, the boys laughed but the girls were confused.
“yeah yeah” The boys replied on the television.
“except we have seen you in the papers,” The interviewer said raising her eyebrows at Jay. Jay stared back at her.
“Well this interview is about the music, not his person life” Max said to the interviewer.
“Very well,” She said, “So when’s the new album out?”
“We’re working on it at the moment actually,” Siva smiled, “It’s coming along well”
“Can you give us a preview?!” The interviewer grinned.
“No.” Tom said to her. Everyone in the living-room laughed, I looked to Tom and he looked to me and we smiled and quickly looked back to the television.
The interviewer asked about The Wanted’s music, their upcoming tour and their Christmas plans, following the question on plans for Christmas the interviewer asked:
“So, Jay, will you be spending Christmas with this mystery girl?”
“We’ve already said we’re here to talk about the music” Max replied back calmly. “c’mon Jay, just give us a bit of information about this girl. Who is she? Is she your girlfriend?” The interviewer asked. “SHE is no one else’s business, whether it’s just some random girl or his girlfriend, it has nothing to do with you so just leave it, yeah?” Tom said, still remaining calm though.
Everyone in the living room cheered when Tom said that, I noticed Sian just looked at me and I could tell what she was thinking. I didn’t really cheer like everyone else; I just smiled.
“I’m just told what to ask” The interviewer stuttered, and the interview ended. Everyone disburse from the sofas, getting drinks ect. It was just me and Tom left in the room, he got up and walked out of the door, I was sitting on the sofa right next to it.
“Come upstairs” he whispered, "if you don't come up, I'll know how you feel" then he left. I bit my lip. I thought to myself, should I?
