Part 15: Lone girl
Tom POV
We were all looking out to the pond. Waiting for what we so desperately wanted to see; and it came. Jay burst out of the surface of the water holding Daisy under his arms. Everyone let out a cry of relief and Max shouted to Jay to swim on his back to the bank, and he did. Me and Siva pulled Daisy out of the water and Max and Siva pulled Jay out. They lied on the bank next to each other.
I looked at Daisy. Her lips were blue and her eyes shut. I couldn’t move; I couldn’t help her. Max checked Daisy’s pulse. There was silence from all of us. “There’s a pulse” Max said. That’s when the ambulance pulled up. Then the paramedics took over, putting tin foil round her and taking her into the back of the ambulance on a stretcher. No one knew what they were going to do or if Daisy was going to be okay. Jay was conscious, and sitting up. The paramedics but tin foil round us all separately and we were taken to the hospital in a separate ambulance.
Max POV
We waited in the waiting room for 2 hours in silence. We knew Jay was going to be fine almost immediately after he arrived at the hospital, he was checked over in the ambulance.
Finally, the doctor came out to see us. We all stood up.
“She’s going to be fine” he said and we all sighed with relief and cheered. Jay cried.
“She’ll need a lot of rest” the doctor said “We’ll be keeping her in so we can keep an eye on her for a few days.” We all nodded. “Has anyone contacted her parents or guardians?” The doctor asked. We all looked at each other. Who did we need to call? Who would she want us to call? Who did Daisy have?
