"Has Fred seemed - I dunno - different lately?" Ron asked with a mouthful of food to his sister across the Gryffindor table in the Great Hall.
She scrunched up her face in disgust which made him redden and mumble a 'sorry'. Ginny started to eat her breakfast hoping that Ron wouldn't ask her again.
"Didn't you hear me, Gin? Isn't Fred been not very Fred like lately?"
"'Not very Fred like?'" She asked incredulously. "He's Fred. Of course, he's acting like Fred."
"No!" Ron said exasperated. "I mean he's been different."
"Different?" Ginny asked with scrunched up eyebrows. "What do you mean different?"
"Just different!" Ron said frustrated, unable to find the words to describe exactly how his brother had been acting much different than he had all his life.
Ginny rolled her eyes half in amusement and half in annoyance. "How informative, Ron." She quickly went back to eating her breakfast, ignoring the thwarted look on her brother's face.
"Listen, Ginny," Ron said hurriedly as if he had to tell her as quickly as possible. "Fred has been acting different, you can't deny it."
All she spared him was a disinterested glance.
He huffed. "You just don't know how pressing this is."
She held in a snicker. "Oh, don't I?" She asked rhetorically, clearly not interested in whatever point Ron was going to attempt to make and fail miserably. She turned her head and saw George entering the Great Hall. Letting out a sigh of relief for the first time since seeing George - well, ever - she looked at Ron and said "Look, there's George. Why don't you tell him how very un-Fred-like Fred has been?"
Unexpectedly, Ron's grumpy stance perked up and he looked at Ginny as if she had struck gold. "Bloody hell!" He exclaimed. "That's brilliant, why didn't I think of that."
"Probably because Ginny's not as thickheaded as you are." George snickered beside Lee Jordan who had just walked up to where Ron was sitting. For the very first time, Ron didn't comment on his brother's teasing comment and instead looked absolutely pleased to see him. This brought a furrow to George's face and a slightly concerned glance towards his sister.
"George! I'm glad I saw you. I have to talk to you about something!" Ron said anxiously.
George looked at Ron perplexed and in a joking manner he placed his hand on his brother's forehead. "You alright there? No fever at all?"
Ron scrunched his face up at once. "Fever, what? I'm fine. Listen - that doesn't matter. I've got to tell you something."
George look expectantly and huffed when Ron didn't say anything. "And? What is so pressing that you have that frantic expression on your face?"
"Frantic? I'm not - never mind." Ron waved off George's comment. "It's about Fred. He's - well - been acting different lately."
George couldn't hold back the laugh that bubbled up in his throat. "And how is my dear twin brother acting - what was it - oh yes, different?"
