Growing up in a pureblood household as a daughter, you had certain expectations set upon you from birth. You had been drilled in from a young age of the pureblooded beliefs that your family followed. This being said, the importance of blood purity and marrying a man from a like family of your parent's choosing was pressed upon heavily. You hadn't realized as a child that this could be a strange concept to other people, but to you, it was normal and even more so - easily doable. You had parents who loved you and you thought it only fair to do what they asked. To you, it seemed so small in comparison to all that they had done for you. You were never left wanting and were so well-loved.

Besides, your parents had an arranged marriage and they were happy. The love you received from them wasn't a singular case - they, too, loved one another. As you got older you realized that arranged marriage wasn't the norm for your peers. Sure when you were placed into Slytherin, which all your family had been before you, your housemates came from similar pureblooded families, but it seemed that this was a rarity outside of your house. While the girls who shared your dorm all accepted that they would be married to someone from a like-minded family by their parents upon graduation, you had found out that this wasn't what happened outside of Slytherin. Anywhere apart from the Dungeons, blood status didn't matter and you could date whoever you chose. How simple, you thought, no expectations - only your heart's desire. That had never been your reality.

Your fate had always been known- you would be a Slytherin and marry another Slytherin that was from a family like yours to keep your bloodline pure. It was easy enough to follow. All you had to do was be put in your family's house and then marry who your parents chose for you.

There should have been no complications - no ginger-haired boy with the brightest smile and most brilliant laugh who would sweep you off your feet. The only thing was that there was a complication. Fred Weasley was your only complication. He was everything you shouldn't have liked, what you were taught was despicable and shameful. He wasn't prim and proper, he never followed the rules, and he certainly wasn't Slytherin and hated the pureblood beliefs you were taught to love.

Despite all of this - the contradictions and the expectations you had to follow - you found yourself unwittingly fall steadfastly in love with him. It had started with him talking to you in class which resulted in your housemates snickering and giving him a foul look and it had lead to midnight escapades to the Astronomy tower and secret kisses in hidden corridors.

It was never supposed to happen and you found yourself stuck in limbo between fulfilling your expectations to do what you ought to do as a pureblood daughter for your family or contemplating throwing everything you ever have known away for Fred. How could you ever choose when your family had never done a thing to deserve your betrayal yet Fred had never made you feel more alive - more human. Fred who had gotten out the snorting laughter that was so very unladylike and made you grin in a way that only looked appropriate when you were a child. Fred who made you feel more like yourself than you have ever been. He brought out parts of you that you have no idea existed. How could you leave him after graduation when he brought out all that was good in you? You couldn't betray your family for him either, though, could you? You could imagine the look on their faces, riddled with shock and disgust alike, at the prospect of their only daughter betraying their values for a blood traitor.
