If you had told your eleven year old self that your last year at Hogwarts would be the hell on earth it ended up being, you wouldn't believe yourself. Never would you have imagined that Dumbledore would be powerless and in his place there would be a horrid, sadistic woman who would suck every drop of joy at Hogwarts before she was finished.

First, it was Defense Against The Dark Arts where you wouldn't actually be learning anything. She even said that Dumbledore and Harry were lying about you-know-who coming back! You knew that the Prophet was bashing Harry all summer but to hear a Ministry official actually say that this was a lie was terrifying.

Then, there was the detentions. Harry was the first one you knew. He stood up to Umbridge the first day in his class and said that Voldemort was back and he killed Cedric. He got detention because of his 'lies'. You later found out through Ron that the quill she made him use was enchanted to carve what you were writing into your skin. If you were terrifies before you didn't know what you were then.

After that was her prejudices. She targeted people like you. Muggle-born witches and wizards that was. You always ended up in detention because of some bullshit excuse when it was really your blood status. It didn't help that you were closely tied to the people that Umbridge and the Ministry were against. You were incredibly close to Harry, who had always felt like a younger brother you never had the pleasure having, and were dating George Weasley. There was also the fact that you never hesitated to stand up to that prat Malfoy and his friends. You were in detention more often than not but at some point the expected pain you received wasn't surprising. When you knew what to expect, the pain didn't shock you anymore. Besides, you had stopped caring at some point. So if a scared first year was being threatened, of course, you were going to step in. You weren't made a Gryffindor seven years ago because you were a coward, were you?

But then she became less subtle. Before giving detention was for a reason at least, no matter how ridiculous it was. At a quidditch game her hatred of your friends came to a head.

The Gryffindors had beaten the Slytherins and Malfoy wasn't pleased. Not that the Gryffindors were any happier. Crabbe and Goyle were hurting the Gryffindors on purpose and Umbridge did nothing to stop them. Then something horrible happened. Up in the stands you don't know what Malfoy said, but whatever it was led to Harry and George punching him repeatedly until Madam Hooch stepped in. Fred was only stopped from the chasers holding him back. You were worried. Not about Malfoy injuries, which you were inclined to assume he deserved, but about George. What would Umbridge do? She wasn't likely to let this slide.

Without thinking you rushed from the stands and went into the castle when you saw Harry and George going with McGonagall. You were speeding down the halls to McGonagall's office. You had to know if it was going to be ok. Maybe if it was up to Professor McGonagall they wouldn't be punished as much.

You ran into the room, opening the door quickly. "Professor, whatever reason they did that to Malfoy had to be justified. They wouldn't hurt him for no reason!" you said desperately out of breath. You saw McGonagall's raised eyebrows but what you really took notice of was the sad, defeated look on George's face and the mixture of exhaustion and anger on Harry's. Then you heard it behind you.
