The Gryffindor common room was dimly lit as the moonlight poured through the glass windows and the only light that could be found in the room was the warm hues from the large, stone fireplace that let out a crackling noise as the kindle burned. The common room was silent - a sight rarely seen - as the late hour of the evening meant that most students had retired to bed, finding comfort in the warm duvets and covers in their beds after a long week of classes and catching up on some much needed rest.

You, on the other hand, found your comfort in a different place. Tonight was the last night in a long time you'd be able to be with George before he left Hogwarts with Fred next week. George sat on the ground behind you as he leans against the back of the sofa in the common room. You come in return, leaned against his torso and ignored any discomfort that the hard surface may have given you as you found solace being in your boyfriend's arms.

Being in George's arms always felt like home.

A sigh fell from your lips as George's fingers twirled through the strands of your hair, the soothing sensation relaxing your body entirely and they peaceful state of mind consuming you. With your body snug against him as his hands gently threading through your hair, forgetting troubles and stress from the week was easier than breathing.

"What's on your mind angel?" He murmured softly, still weaving his fingers gently through your hair effortlessly.

You pressed yourself further into his chest, leaning your head against his shoulder as your temple brushed up against his jaw. "Nothing," you uttered softly - so softly that he wouldn't have heard you if you two weren't so close together right now. Out of the side of your eye you caught the disbelieving glance from George. "Just going to miss you is all." You said quietly, although not sadly. You would miss George more than possible the next two months you had left at Hogwarts but found yourself just relishing being by his side instead of thinking how difficult it would be to be without him.

"It's only two months," he reassured you "it's not that long." He promised, though you and he both knew it would feel like ages compared to two months. You hummed in agreement, just beginning to really enjoy the comfort of his shoulder when he pushed you up gently.

"George-" you protested quietly, though you did little to stop him from moving you to an upright position as he adjusted himself so that he was sitting up straighter.

He only shushed you in response and you rolled your eyes even if he couldn't see your trivial annoyance. He gathered your hair so that it fell along your back and threaded his fingers through your hair, separating them into three strands.

"You can be a quite bossy, you know," you mumbled under your breath but George seemed to be unperturbed by your comment as he continued to thread his fingers into your hair, creating individual strands.

"That's no way to talk to your boyfriend who is trying to braid your hair." He teased.

"Don't be daft," you scoffed playfully, "you can't braid hair."

His actions betrayed you confidence, however, as he began to braid your hair effortlessly with his nimble fingers. After a beat of your stunned silence that your boyfriend could suddenly braid hair out of what seemed to be nowhere he said quietly, "I had Ginny teach me," he sounded almost trepidatious.

You were baffled to say the least and the words came tumbling out of your mouth carelessly, "you had Ginny teach you how to braid hair, just for me?" You breathed out in awe.

"Yeah," George admitted and with newfound confidence in his braiding prowess, he added before thinking of it twice, "besides, when we have daughters I'll need to know how to braid their hair."

You felt yourself freeze from shock, although George had no such feeling overtake his body as he effortlessly finished to braid and secured a maroon scrunchie - courtesy of Ginny - around the braid now running down your back.

As soon as he finished the braid, you easily turned yourself around as you moved your legs to rest on either side of him, now sitting in his lap with your arms snaking around his middle. "You think about the future?" You queried shakily in shock, eyes wide and doe like.

George studied your eyes as their natural color he had already fallen in love made him fall in love with them yet again as the warm hues from the flame of the fire were reflected as they danced in your eyes. "Course I do, love. I was just talking to you about our plans for the shop at dinner. You're not developing short term memory loss on me, I hope?" He quipped cheekily as a teasing grin grew on his lips. You were quick to give his side a squeeze and shot him a deadpanned look, effectively telling him you weren't in the mood for jokes - that this was serious. His expression changed to a more sincere one as he gazed into your eyes, his teasing grin turning into what Fred had deemed many times as a lovesick smile. "I think about us all the time. I would've thought by now you'd know you're it for me." He was sincere, looking at you like you hung the stars in the sky. The look he gave you was easy enough for you to believe every word he said.

The mere thought of being with George for the rest of your days was one that brought heat up your neck and a blissful smile to your lips. You didn't even notice that your head had fallen as you tore your gaze from his until he spoke softly yet again, picking your chin gently as he cupped your chin, "Do you remember what you told me when I said Fred and I were going to leave early?" He asked tenderly to which you nodded - the recent memory of George pulling you into an empty corridor and telling you that he was leaving Hogwarts early to start the joke shop. He had said he couldn't fathom being without you to which you simply told him that 'You have me. Forever and always, Georgie, you have me whether you like it or not at this point I'm afraid.' "You have me forever and always, Y/N. If you'll still want me that is." He chucked as he stroked your cheek but you could see right through him and saw his nerves shining through.

"Forever and always, Georgie." You smiled up at him, the love the you held for one another a promise that no matter what would come of the future, you would always be by his side.
