Far Away

CASTLE'S POV

6:30am,Tuesday
I was sleeping in my hotel room when I heard knocks on the door. Yes I say sleepy. "Room service, Sir" voice on the other side of the door replied. Just leave it in front of the door I said. Okay Sir as you want, have a good day! Thank you I said but I knew that there is no chance for good day. I am here and my family is there, but I just don't know how to feel and I need some time alone because if my mother and Alexis see me like this, the two of them would be hurt even more than now. So this is best for now. And Kate... I know she is having hard time now, but I don't know what to do, I really don't. I am like a little boy, lost without his mother. Speaking of family I need to check my phone and see if I have some unreaded messages or uanswered calls. I turned on my cell phone and the screen said "1 unreaded message". I opend it and it's from her. She is worried about me and she want me to answer her. I will do just that because even though I'm hurt I'm not that much of a jerk, at least she deserves to know I'm alive. I started typing.
"Good morning, Kate. I know you are worried about me but I need some time to think and I won't be back soon." I hit send button. I am just going to take a shower and get ready for day.

KATE'S POV
I had taken sick days so now I was just sitting on the couch with tears in my eyes. This has always been my dream but not like this. Sitting on the couch in pjamas, my head on his chest, his hand running lightly over my hair as we watch the movie, that's all I want at the moment. But I was sitting all alone in this big apartman.

Martha and Alexis are in Hamptons. They still don't know what's going on, but that's better. Rick told two readheads to stay at Hamptons for some time, which they did not object to. Alexis also took her boyfriend to the Hamptons, staying longer means spending more time with him and it didn't bother her at all.

Just as Kate was about to fall asleep and try to forget recent events her phone vibrated. Who could that be? she wonder. Maybe Lanie or boys. It was the message most hoped for but not expected. Her eyes filled with tears as she read the name from the screen. It says new message from "Rick". She still couldn't believe what she sees, but she opend it as fast as she could. He said that he don't know when he is coming back, but that's ok she can take it. It is important to her that he answered her, that means there is still hope. And she will cling to even the slightest glimmer of hope just to save her marriage. She will send him message that's for sure but she must first think of what to write, she must not be too aggressive or uninterested. She has to find the golden mean. She began to think but nothing came to her mind. But then an idea came to her. I know I will call Lanie to help me she is an expert for situations like this. She was happy to remember that, but she was even happier because of the message she had received from Rick. A message she hadn't answered yet because she was afraid. She needed someone to be by her side as she did so. And there is no better person than Lanie for that.

LANIE'S POV
I was just about to get ready to go home. But someone came to visit me.
Javi? Hey... Hey, chica! he replied cheerfully. I missed you today you know that. Instead of answering, I smiled slightly. He returned the smile and walked towards me. We started kissing lightly, but then with more and more passion, I missed his lips on mine. But then my phone started ringing in the worst momemt ever. Really, now ?! Who's bothering you now? Your shift ended 15 minutes ago he said little annoyed, which was so sweet, I just wanted to keep kissing him but the damn phone didn't stop ringing. I picked up the phone without looking at who was calling me and nervously answered "What?!"
Hey, Lanie it's me, but if it's a bad time I'll call you later said a broken voice on the other end of the line.
Hey, Kate... no it's not bad time, do you need something are you okay? I asked. I am as much as I can be, but I need your help, can you come to the loft now, please? Of course I can I'll be there for 5 minutes. See you than and thank you she said weakly before she hung up. Is everything all right ?, Javi asked concerned. It doesn't sound very good but now I'm going to see her, don't worry I'll let you know how is she I said before I kissed him gently on the cheek. Ok talk to you soon, chica.
And if you need something just call me, anything at all, ok? Ok I answered before I left.

KATE'S POV
Opening the door I saw my best friend. I hugged her tightly as large tears dripped from my cheeks. Hey, Kate shhh, everything is okay I am here, shhh she comforted me. He sent me a message, Lanie. Okay, that's good or? She asked me. I don't know Lanie, I don't know! I no longer have the strength to endure all this. Katherine Houghton Beckett-Castle look at me! I looked as Rick's last name rang in my ears. "Castle" I whispered softly. Kate, you are the strongest woman I have ever met, if you endured everything that happened to you, you will endure this as well. Hugging me she asked me
What he said? I couldn't answer, I just handed her the phone. After a few second she said Hey it's good he just need some time and that's all. He will come back for sure. You think? I asked suspiciously. Kate, I know both of you. And the fact is that he is so in love and you're in love with him. Now you both suffer but it will pass, don't worry. Kate, he loves you and he always will no matter what. What you have is pure love and things like this are just testing your love which is much stronger than that. I hope you're right Lanie, I replied, as I squeezed my head into my lap.
I am, I am, girlfriend. And let's answer him now. After a few minutes Lanie showed me the message she had typed.
"Rick, I'm so glad you answered and I want to apologize again. I firmly promise you that I will tell you the truth from now on if you give me a second chance.
I hope you will because I will not give up on us, I will always fight for us. This is my fault but I will correct it, I hope you will have a place in your heart to take me back
May I call you tomorrow, I really miss your voice. "
I nodded and Lanie hit " send"
Lanie can I ask you something? Anything Kate, my best friend replied.
Can you stay with me for a few days, I really need my best friend now.
Sure thing, when my girl need me I am here for her. I said thank you as I laid my head on her shoulder.
