CASTLE'S POV

I heard the name of the flight to New York and headed to the terminal to board. At the entrance I gave an ID and a ticket, the flight attendant looked on in delight, you are The Richard Castle. Yes that's me I replied.
I’m a big fan of yours, can I ask you something? Of course! I know it’s stupid, but this is the first flight to New York, it’s the second in an hour, can you somehow stay, I’d love to take a lunch break with you and learn something new about you and your books, she said as she blushed. I would love to, but I need to be somewhere as soon as I can and I need to tell something very important to one person, so another time, I guess. Yes, of course, she agreed.
Your ID and ticket are okay, you can board on the plane. Thank you, I retaliated as I headed for the entrance. Oh, and I hope that you will arrive on time, and tell that person what you need, that the person is obviously very important to you, she said with a friendly smile. Yes I hope so, I replied. Have a nice flight, Mr. Castle, she added. I got on the plane, settled into my seat, and sleep somehow overwhelmed me, so I decided to take a nap.

Meanwile, at the loft

Kate!!! Lanie shouted. Yes?? , her  brown-haired friend responded. Espo just called me, he said we have New case... Can you go or would you rather stay home? Of course I am going Lanie, let's go! Oh, okay, nice to hear that! Lanie replied. On the way to the crime scene, Lanie watched Kate, who was driving, and noticed Someone is in good mood? Kate smiled back.
I tried so hard to comfort you, and talk to you, but no way to cheer you up, and he just called and put a smile on your face, Lanie said with a big smile on her face. Kate,  looked at her and said, you know what, I have a feeling he's going to call me tonight, I don't know why, but I just have that feeling. I'm so glad for you, girl, that old Kate I know is finally back, who never gives up and always fights.

At the crime scene

Hey girls! Ryan greeted a medical examiner and a detective. Hey Ryan, so what we got? Beckett asked. This is Jimmy Benson, 36-year old civil servant working in the mayor’s office.
Ok, while Lanie examined the body, we go to get witnesses, if there are any, and go explore the area a bit,two male detectives said. I'll go with you boys, Beckett adds. So, how are you? the boys asked cautiously as they searched the trash can. I am okay, thanks for asking, don't worry about me. You know we can’t help but worry, if someone hurts you, it’s like they hurt us too. We are a family. Espo and Ryan said. I know boys and it's really great to have both of you, the two of you always looking after me, and watch my back, but this is my fault and I need make it right. Okay, if you say so, we support you, but know that we are always there for you. Thanks guys, that means a lot.. Moments later Ryan turned, holding something like a brooch in his hand and said found it! Great job, let’s go back, see if Lanie has determined the cause of death. Hey Lanie do you have C. O. D? Beckett asked. Yes, our victim was first beaten and later strangled. What about you, guys, did you find anything? Lanie asked the three NYPD detectives. Oh, yes we did, we found this brooch, certainly belonged to the victim. The victim has his own on the suit so this must be someone else's, maybe a killer's.? Ryan, Espo go to the precinct , try to get a warrant to take everyone's DNA from the mayor's office so we have samples we can compare the DNA from the brooch with if we find it, Beckett told the boys. Okay, let's get to it, what are you going to do? I'll take a look to see if there are any witnesses, and you can do background check on our victim. Agreed, then see you at the precinct , they retorted, to see you Beckett confirmed.

CASTLE'S POV

Someone's voice woke me up, I opened my eyes slightly and saw a flight attendant offering me a drink, no thanks, I'll skip it, All right as you wish, sir, she said and went on. The flight took me another two hours, and as soon as I woke up, my brain started to be preoccupied with various thoughts, but of course I thought mostly about this whole situation, I was no longer so sure of the decision I made in the hotel room, maybe it was a decision in the heat of the moment, I wondered, or is it the right decision? I don’t know, I just know I’m on my way home now, somewhere high in the air, maybe over the ocean. Yes, I’m  going home, it’s the right decision, I think at one point. How, how am I going to get home and look her in the eyes, I’m afraid that every time I look at her, she’s going to leave and leave me, and I really can’t relive it all again, I think at another time. I really don’t know anymore what to think and how to feel. I just want this to be one of my books, not reality.

At the precinct
*Beckett arrived at precinct*

Detective Beckett, my office, now! Gates ordered. Yes Sir. Is there any problem, Sir? Detective Beckett, you can't just ask for a DNA sample order from the mayor's office without key evidence. But sir we have a brooch. It's the mayor! We need solid evidence, you don’t even know if they had a DNA brooch! You and Detectives Ryan and Esposito go home now, we'll continue when we have stronger evidence. Because of this kind of evidence, we can’t ask for a warrant, especially if it concerns the mayor. But sir ... Beckett objected. Go home, we will continue tomorrow, so that this whole investigation does not attract media attention, that is the last thing we need. All right, sir, said Beckett as she left the office. Yo, Beckett what happend? Espo asked. Gates forbade us to ask for a warrant for DNA samples from the mayor's office, until we have solid evidence, there's nothing we can do for now, let's go home. Technically, there’s one way we could get closer to the mayor, Ryan figured out, yes, Espo agreed we just need someone who’s good with the mayor. And I know just such a person, Ryan started but then stopped abruptly. Ryan, Beckett and Espo called out to him. Nothing, forget it, Ryan waved his hand away. No, tell us who that person is, is that a friend of yours from Narcotics? Beckett asked. Castle, I meant Castle, Ryan said as he turned his head to avoid Beckett's gaze, because he knew what that gaze would be. Beckett looked at the floor, saying nothing, but the boys knew she was thus hiding the tears that welled up in her eyes.
Let's go home, she said in a half-broken voice.
Ryan was very sorry because he mentioned it now, because it just seemed to him that Kate was better, and now everything came back again, all the sadness and pain in her eyes. The two of them watched her as she left, it was hard for them to see her like that, and they wanted to help her.

LANIE'S POV

The door opened and Kate entered the apartment, I was happy, I thought she would be happy to tell me what happened at work and what she was talking about with Castle, but when she looked at me, I saw the pain in her eyes.Kate, what's the matter? You were so happy today, what happened?
Nothing, we were handling the case and the guys mentioned him.
Okay and why is that a problem now?
I don’t know Lanie, I was so sure this morning he would call me, but why should I hope at all, Lanie? Oh, Kate don't please, listen to me, I'm going to get us something for dinner, I'll be right back.

KATE'S POV

After Lanie left, I sat and stared at our wedding picture,Rick's and mine, staring at his ruggedly handsome face and cursing the day I walked out that door and left him because of that DAMN stupid case.
