This is not her

It was 6pm when Espo, Ryan and Jenny arrived at the loft. Kate and Lanie greeted their friends and they all together sat on the couch to chat a little. So how are you, Kate? Jenny asked. Oh, you know I am not so well... but she is going to be okay Lanie continued. Right, Kate? She asked me, knowing what I had promised her before the guests came.
I just nodded... One day, I added quietly so no one could hear me. I'm going to get us drinks to relax a little, we could order something to eat, Lanie said. That's a great idea! Jenny and the boys agreed. What about pizza, Espo asked. Sound great to me! Ryan said. Yes me too, what about you Kate? Lanie turned to me. Okay I simply said. Kate, what did we agree on? , Lanie looked at me a little reproachfully. Ya, I am sorry, that's perfect, let's order pizza, I said as I put fake smile on my face, just to satisfy Lanie. The guys were mostly talking about work, after 20 minutes a doorbell rang.

LANIE'S POV

When the bell rang, Kate jumped, I knew a glimmer of hope was born in her, but I also knew that that glimmer of hope would go out when she saw the pizza delivery man and she would be gloomy again as she was most days. So how is she, really?  Jenny and boys took the opportunity and asked me while Kate was not there. As you can see, I answered sadly. She had just started to get better somehow, and then she decided to call him, but he didn't answer, I assured her that he had some work to do and that he would call her for sure, and he really had work to do, today when I woke up I found her as she reads something, sobbing, Castle stopped writing Nikki Heat and started a new series of novels, it completely overwhelmed her.
He did what?! Boys asked angrily. I know it sounds bad, but we can't blame him either, I think she's his inspiration for the book, and now that all this is happening, how he's going to have inspiration at all, and he has to write, that's his job, how he got this huge apartment and how he affords all the presents he gives Kate, do you think you could afford all this with your police salary? There is truth in everything you say, the boys agreed, it's just weird for all of us to see them like that, when the two of them look at each other, the chemistry and love burst, they're such a perfect couple, and now this. Yes this is awful, they are suffering indescribably one after another, they are having a hard time now but I hope they will manage to solve everything together, as they have always solved. Jenny concluded as she rested her head on Kevin's shoulder. Hey, what are you talking about, Kate asked us, when she came back with pizza in her hands. Oh, nothing special, about anything and everything, ordinary things, work and so on ... All three of us retaliated quickly. Ok... So pizza is here! Great, we said and pounced on the pizza!
Ok, enough about the work, Jenny and Kevin tell us something new about Sarah Grace and Nicolas Javier, Lanie said happily. Oh, there's so much new, there's something new and spectacular happening every day, being a parent is a real one of the most beautiful things in the world, it's all anyone can wish for, they said as they looked at each other in love. Take it easy, you two, two nephews are enough for now, Lanie said, teasing them. And maybe now it's someone else's turn, Espo tossed, flirting. And Lanie blushed like a pepper, Easy, Tiger! , she said, laughing seductively. Well it would be time, you two, Ryans agreed. Kate didn't get involved in the joke, she sat thoughtfully, and listened to their conversations about the children, which reminded her, when she came home, she was so happy and wanted to tell Rick that she wanted to try on a baby, that she wanted to start a family with him...Kate, are you okay, Lanie asked her, I am she answer her, only my thoughts wandered, the three continued to have a conversation, and Kate got a little more involved. Lanie asked curiously if Sarah Grace and Nicolas Javier were going to some activities. They go, proud parents replied. Sarah Grace goes to dance and Nicolas Javier goes to karate because he said he wants to be as strong as Uncle Javier. Javier laughed heartily and looked at his "brother". Speaking of kids, we should go, it's getting late and the kids are at Jenny's parents, Kevin remarked. True, Jenny agreed. We got up to see off our friends, Javi said he would stay a little longer and keep us company, after we saw Jenny and Kevin off, we went back to the couch. Just when Javi and I sat down, Kate got up and said I'm going to bed, you two feel free to talk ... Kate I called her, Lanie, I'm really tired, she said it all while her eyes filled with tears and left. Oh, not again, I said sadly and looked at Javi, Hey, everything will be okay, I'm going now, go to her, she needs you. I'll talk to you tomorrow, and chica ... I love you. I love you too, Javi,I said as I kissed him before leaving.

After I saw him off, I headed for Kate's room ... Hey, what's wrong? , I asked. Nothing, she replied crying. It's not nothing, talk to me Kate, I'm here for you, I encouraged her. Just, you talked about the kids, I wanted to tell Rick to try on the baby, when I got home, and now all this is happening to me, and I thought this was going to be the happiest period of my life, she burst into tears. I know it's hard, but everything will work out, trust me I comforted her, and now try to get some sleep to be ready for tomorrow, I suggested. She nodded slightly and squatted on the bed still sobbing.

When I left the room, I made a decision, I will call Castle. Before I called him, I checked once more to see if Kate was asleep. I dialed his number, and after a few seconds I heard a voice. It was a deep male voice ... Castle's voice.

"Hello he answered.
Hey it's Lanie, I said.
Oh, hey Lanie, he greeted me but not in his usual voice, this voice was sad and hurt, not at all like Castle's ordinary voice.
Listen, Castle, I'm sorry to call this late, but I need to tell you something.
Something happened to Kate?!, The voice became very worried.
She's fine, as far as I can tell, she's not really well at all, Castle, she hasn't slept in days, she's crying and just talking about you, she doesn't want to eat. This is not her, Castle, this is not Kate I know and I am very worried about her, Castle. I know you're bitter, but how about you come back? Castle, because of her, she won't be well, I know you love her more than anything, as she loves you ... What do you say, Castle?
I don't know if I'm ready Lanie, my heart is telling me to come back and my brain is still angry. Then listen to your heart, Castle, it's right. I know it's hard, but promise me you'll consider returning.
All right, I promise.
And at least call her please, she'll be better when she hears you, I'm trying to calm her down, but I can't, you're the only one who can, she needs you Castle.
