Trent Sutton never stopped loving his wife, or regretting that day when a moment of weakness had robbed him of his soul mate. He'd fallen madly in love with Catherine Stone at first sight.

He'd noticed her immediately, sitting in the front row of the lecture hall, her large, blue, almond shaped eyes filled with awe as she hung on his every word. She was so beautiful, with that dark skin thanks to her mother's Indian heritage, and her father's blue eyes in stark contrast. She had the face of an angel and the body of a devil. Cat was nineteen and a virgin when they began their love affair.

Trent had been a very gentle and nurturing lover, amazed as she began to finally opened up to him body and soul. She was an eager student in bed, although he always sensed she was holding back, never wanting to give in to her most basic needs. The part that hurt him the most was they had never been happier. As her therapist, he'd almost succeeded in helping her overcome her inhibitions when she'd caught him with that woman.

Not a day went by that he didn't regret his weakness, dropping his guard for a second and losing everything for a moment of physical pleasure with a woman he didn't care about. He could see the pain in Cat's eyes every time she looked at him, that was the reason he forced himself to stay away so much.

He knew she had never taken a lover, before now. He wished she had, it would have taken some of his guilt away for being the cause of her loneliness. Trent knew better than anyone what a truly passionate woman Cat had been prior to his indiscretion. Trent marveled at her self control, bottling up her desires for years, he wasn't that strong.

He was a man who needed intimacy, despite his power to stay emotionally detached. He had a string of lovers over the years, adding to his guilt. He sat across from Cat as they had their lunch, she looked beautiful. Her eyes devoid of their usual vacancy now, she was alive again. That younger lover had revived the Cat he loved, but he wasn't going to allow him to take her away from him. Trent was going to fight for his wife, and he was determined to win her back.

"Trent..." she began, her face racked with pain.

"I understand Cat." He hated to see her anguish, she didn't deserve to suffer, he was the one who'd ruined everything. "Do you love him?" He asked, he had to know what he was up against.

According to the papers, Cat's lover was in his mid twenties; he couldn't have anything going for him besides his virility and Trent knew he could match him in that department, he just needed the chance to prove it to her.

"I don't know." She answered honestly. She wasn't sure about anything any more.

"Then it's not too late. Come back to me mi encanto." He stood, taking her in his arms.

She was so small and frail like this, he wanted to protect her, to make her safe again. She resisted him at first as he took her face and showered soft kisses all over it. She closed her eyes, as tears fell from them.

"I never stopped loving you, come back to me." He kissed her tears, and then he kissed her lips. It was familiar, yet totally devoid of the passion they once shared.

Cat's resolve was weakening by the second, she was confused and wracked with guilt. So she kissed him back. Kissing Trent was like returning home from a long trip. It was comforting, and safe. She pushed all the doubts from her head, and allowed her husband to kiss her for the first time in a decade. Cat returned his kiss, willing herself to feel something for him, to her dismay she felt nothing. Trent sensed her hesitation and released her lips, still holding her firmly.
