"Good morning." Trent said softly, sitting on the end of her Cat's bed. She looked at her watch, it was after ten.
"Good morning," Cat stretched and yawned sleepily, forgetting for a minute about her revealing shoe string strapped night dress. She pulled the sheet up, hoping she hadn't inadvertently exposed her bruised breasts to her husband.
"I'm sorry to wake you; I made you some breakfast and was wondering if you wanted to spend the day exploring this lovely countryside with me." Trent suggested. He'd woken up that morning and decided to up his game and spend a romantic day in the countryside with his beautiful wife, and he wasn't taking no for an answer.
"What about Sam?" Cat said looking for an excuse not to be alone with Trent. He had the ability to get her to open up and she wasn't ready to let him inside her head yet.
"She's nursing a monstrous hang over, some alone time would do her good." He laughed, turning to leave Cat's bedroom, "take your time. I'll be waiting downstairs."
Cat hated the fact that she was being so distant to Trent; he had been making an enormous effort, despite his knowledge of her affair. She dressed quickly and met him downstairs, determined to forget everything else in her life and give Trent her undivided attention today. Cat Stone needed to make a choice soon, she had to be certain.
Trent drove Cat's convertible Audi through the local parish village, with its population of only 959. Stapleford Abbots was about 5 miles north of Romford and 5 miles south-west of Chipping Ongar. Covering an area of 2,366 acres. It was a perfect day, despite it still being a little cool for her, Cat sat back in the passenger seat allowing the sun to warm her cool face."You look beautiful Cat." Trent said, admiring his wife.
She wore a white, long sleeved shirt and blue jeans, and he could see she was looking relaxed. The couple drove through the nearby villages, stopping for coffee and to window shop. Trent was pleased at Cat's apparent willingness to spend the day with him. She even allowed him to hold her hand while they were sightseeing.
"I wish I had more time with you." Trent said frowning, on their drive home.
"When do you have to leave?" Cat asked, she'd genuinely enjoyed her husband's company all day. It was an easy camaraderie between them, even the moments of silence were comfortable. Cat recalled how being with Tom was always an adrenaline rush, while being with her husband was peaceful and relaxing. The difference in her own personality with both men surprised her also. I am two totally different women, she sighed, thinking to herself, wondering if it were possible to combine the two sides of herself.
She turned to admire Trent as he drove. His tanned face and arms flattered by the shade of blue of his polo shirt. His eyebrows were together in a frown as he squinted against the setting sun, his lips were set in a half smile, Cat smiled as she watched his mouth curl into a full smile, aware of her close scrutiny.
"What is it, do I have some cream on my face?" He asked rubbing his cheek, the couple having just shared the largest slice of cake they'd both ever seen at a little coffee shop in the nearby village of Abridge.
"No, but I'm surprised you don't with the way you inhaled that gigantic slice of cake." Cat laughed, recollecting the expression on both their faces when the waitress served them the giant slice of cake.
"Me? I saw you eyeing the last mouthful, are you sure you had enough cake...we could go back and ask for a larger slice..." The couple laughed as they pulled into Cat's private lane.
"Thank you Trent, I had a lovely day." Cat commented as they neared the guest house.
Trent took her hand and pulled her into his arms. Without warning, he kissed her. She was stunned at first but soon kissed him back. It was so natural kissing him, he was soft and gentle. Trent always handled Cat as though she were a fragile piece of art, afraid he'd break her. But right then, he wasn't being gentle, he was kissing her passionately. His fingers holding her firmly against him as she kissed him back. Encouraged, Trent placed his hands under her shirt to her bare hips and held her tight against his hard body.
