Chapter 3: Sykkuno - Gone down under

     "Raaaaeee!"

     Rae turned around, waving at me.

     "She won't be back for quite a while," Poki remarked.

     "Why?"

     "She's gotta settle some... emotional turmoil."

     Poki grinned at the last sentence, but I didn't know why. It was almost like she knew something about Rae... something both embarrassing and hilarious.

     Rae splashed around in the water for a bit before swimming back. Suddenly, she lurched forward, then disappeared from the surface of the water.

     I snatched a pair of goggles and stripped off my jacket, diving into the cold water. After swimming to about where Rae was, I dove down.

     Rae was struggling to move. Her foot was immobilized by a rope of seaweed tied into a knot. I grabbed the rope, ripping it into two, and wrapped my arms around her. Her mouth was already spewing bubbles.

     With a strong kick, I rose up to the surface, holding Rae up a little so she could get air. She was choking and gasping, having probably swallowed a lot of water.

     I paddled back to the shore, setting her down onto the sand. Then I realised Poki was gone. That was weird. She was standing right beside me a second ago.

     "Ugggh..." Rae groaned, still spitting out water.

     "Are you okay?" I asked.

     She looked at me with an expression I couldn't identify, then wrapped her arms around my neck and kissed me.

Sorry for such a short chapter, I can't write really good right now. I woke up every morning thinking I'll write it tomorrow.
