Me and Jessica are walking back to the car to go home. I finished off my last 4 classes in agony wanting to find hallway boy. I dont know what it is, but there's just something intriguingly mysterious about him that i just have to know. We're walking to the car when a red truck pulls up next to us and stops. It was Luke.

"Hey jasmine." he shouted from the passenger side.

"Oh you remembered? I thought your brain could only process the basic stuff." i said back to him.

He starts laughing and all his friends are too.

"Bro shes serving your ass to you." one of his bandmates said in the back seat.

I can feel Jessica tugging on my arm.

"What are you doing? Why are you talking to  him like that?!" She angrily whispers to me.

"Relax. Im just having a little fun." I whisper with a devious playful smile on my face.

"So where you girls headed? Need a ride?" Luke offers.

Me and Jessica both respond at the same time but with different answers.

"No we're good. Thanks for the offer though." i said.

"Um actually, we're not good. We could really use a ride." Jessica told the driver.

"Jessica we already have a car." i told her defensively.

"Yeah one you called a hunk of crap older than Moses." she whispered back.
"Do you seriously wanna be the girls who turned down a ride from Luke Summers?!" She angrily whispers.

"Honestly Jessica, i dont care. If u wanna ride with them, fine. But your giving me your car keys."

"You dont even have a license silly."

"Who says i need one? If you wanna ride with them so badly, go ahead. But if for some reason i end up crashing it, you wont have a hunk of crap, not just for today, but forever. So pick one."

Jessica looks so mad in the face. But i didnt care. Shes always so willing to just abandon me for some guy or a group of guys. Im really starting to question our friendship. If shes willing to ditch me for a group of random guys, who knows what she'll do if she ever got a boyfriend. Jessica gets the keys out of her purse and unlocks the car.

"Sorry boys but we cant take you up on that offer." Jessica tells Luke and the boys nicely.

"Nah its all good. But yall should come by my house later on tonight. Im having a little small gathering and i wanna invite you guys. Plus it'll give me more than 5 mins with Jasmine." he said flirtatiously. "but thats only if you guys are up for it."

Me and Jessica both looked at each other and started arguing with our faces.

"We'll take it into consideration. Thank you." i said.

I got in the car and closed the door. The boys drove off in the truck blaring loud rock music. Jessica gets in and slams the door.

"What is your problem?!" Be both shout at the same time.

"My problem? Those guys were gonna give us a free ride, and you turned it down."

"A free ride? Really? Who know what would've happened to us if we got in that truck! And lets say we did take the ride. Your car would be stuck here in the school parking lot until tomorrow. Someone could've easily broke in and stole something, or even steal the car itself!"

"Uggghhh you never wanna have fun! Your such a stickler!"

"Im so sorry that caring about our safety is such a problem for you, Jessica!"

We ended the argument with me getting the last word. I was so irritated with her that i couldn't even think straight. I didnt wanna think about anything else. I just wanted to go home.

Jessica pulls into my driveway and turns the car off.

"Are we going to the party tonight or not?" Jessica asked softly but irritated. I just let out a sigh.

"Look Jessica, i have no problem having fun. I have no problem going to the party either. But you cant even stay by my side walking to class or walking to the car. Your willing to just ditch me for nearly anybody. You think thats gonna work at a party? Its unsafe, Jessica. What if something were to happen to me or to you and neither one of us were around to save each other? All im saying is i want you to think more about the aftermath and not just the now. Or even just be more cautious of things your trying to get into."

Jessica was quiet. I knew that what i said made her think a little bit. She had this face of regret and sorrow and she couldnt hide even with all the makeup she wears. She looked at me and leaned over the armrest to give me a hug.

"Im sorry Jas. I wasnt thinking." she lets go of the hug and pulls away.

"I guess i was just caught up in the idea that i would be seen with Luke, it kinda overshadowed the safety of me and my bestfriend. I wasnt trying to hurt you Jas and im sorry."

"Its okay Jess. And im sorry too. I shouldn't have yelled at you the way i did."

We hug it out one last time before i get out the car. Jessica stops me when I get to my front porch.

"Heyy are we still gonna go?" She shouts from the car window.

"Sure. Why the hell not." I said smiling.

Jessica was so happy i could see her smile beaming through the windshield. She puts the car in reverse, backs out of the driveway, and drives off.
