His name was Eroy. Vanilla painted skin, dark shoulder length hair, and piercing green eyes. His hair was as dark as wood and his lips as pink as rosemary. He was an underground kid who didnt really socialize with others. At our school, underground kids were the misfits of the area. The skaters, E-Boys, E-Girls, anime kids, & the outsiders. Anybody who wasnt wearing a letterman jacket, cheer skirt, or had a middle classed lifestyle or higher, were considered an underground kid.
I never really talked to him though. Hes got this kinda 'bad boy but innocent' aura to him. You can tell he always walked alone & doesn't care what anyone has to say about him. He was his own person. He did have one friend though. His name was Vinnie. Curly-ish blonde hair, tattoos down his arms & chest, & emerald green eyes. Vinnie was also considered an underground kid. Thats how he & Eroy met. But the underground kids weren't just some nickname the snobby rich kids called the less fortunate. The underground actually started back in middle school were all the underground kids would hangout at this abandoned train station. There were these big dirty sewage pipes that would trail beneath the station. The kids would go down there before & after school to hang out and connect with others since they didnt really have a belonging during school.
So if the underground kids are the less fortunate and the more fortunate kids are all athletes, then your probably wondering where i stand. Im one of the above ground kids. Im not a jock or a cheerleader but i come from a middle class family. My parents are divorced but i stay with my mom primarily and stay with my dad on occasion. I used to be an underground kid my freshman year of high school. My mom was going through a really hard time with housing and trying to take care of me and all the bills on her own. Plus she was trying to finish school and get her degree. By the end of my sophomore year of high school, she graduated, got her masters and got a job over the summer. Eventually we started doing better for ourselves and moved into a decent sized home by my junior year. As far as my life as an actual underground kid, it was pretty lowkey. I didnt associate myself with the other kids there because i couldnt really connect with them other than being an underground kid.
I did end up making a friend named Jessica. She was an above ground kid when i was an underground kid. She was different than everyone else though. She was humble and kind and didnt judge anyone based on what they had. Till this day shes my bestfriend and we do literally everything together. I try to forget about my life back then as an underground kid because it was such a hard time for me and my family. but ill always have respect for the kids who are still there and ill never forget that i was one of them.
